“First of all consider that the URL was posted via a DM (that is a Direct Message – which is supposed to be private), then consider that they they visited the URL which could have contained private information that they were not supposed to see and they made a copy of that page (via a GET request). I have asked Twitter’s ‘Trust and Safety’ team (@safety on Twitter) why they are shadowing all user clicks and have yet to receive a response. Personally I find it somewhat disturbing that Twitter are monitoring the links that their users click on – that is before you even consider that they are monitoring private Direct Messages to do the same.”
