The White House did not immediately comment on the NBC report, but the Justice Department told the network that it would welcome the return of Snowden. Trump himself, who has praised Russian President Vladimir Putin, has questioned the economic restrictions and said in January, ‘If you get along and if Russia is really helping us, why would anybody have sanctions if somebody’s doing some really great things.'”
