“The Bank of Canada unveiled the new series of bank notes in 2011, touting their world-class security and durability. In the past several weeks, police have seized counterfeit polymer bills in cities within the Lower Mainland area surrounding Vancouver. ‘What we think is happening is that people are so confident in the notes is that they’re not really looking at them,’ said Sgt. Duncan Pound, who works with the RCMP Federal Serious and Organized Crime unit. ‘The security features only work if people are looking at them before they accept them,’ he said.”
