“An Arkansas man was sentenced in Tulsa this week to six months in prison for illegally transporting paddlefish eggs, a development a state wildlife official said illustrates a ‘big problem we take very seriously.’ Robbie Dale Tubbs, 52, of Newport, Ark., had pleaded guilty in June to a federal felony charge that was filed in April. He admitted that in April 2008 he obtained paddlefish eggs that he knew had been transported in violation of Oklahoma law and then participated in the sale of the eggs to a wholesaler. Paddlefish eggs are seen by some as a more available and affordable alternative to the caviar associated with sturgeon from the Caspian Sea.”
