“Conservative pundit Patrick Buchanan says Vladimir Putin’s op-ed in the New York Times is an ‘outstanding piece’ that ‘made a better case against U.S. strikes in Syria’ than President Obama has done in arguing for U.S. strikes.”

Obama admin. sends guns to Syria…without background checks

“Have these rebels, who reportedly have ties to terrorist groups, gone through background checks? Does this transfer of light weapons and munitions to Syrian rebels go against the grain of the United Nations’ Small Arms Trade Treaty, which the president has said he supports and would sign? There have been allegations that the Syrian rebels have strong connections to al Qaeda, the same organization that claimed responsibility for the 9/11 attacks in 2001, and has been linked to last year’s Benghazi attack, and we’re giving these people weapons? Does it seem that the president is [little] concerned about putting guns in the hands of people whose idea of justice is public execution?”

Now That Syrian Policy is in Total Confusion, Guess What Obama Did Today

“The President met today with Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah—the Amir of Kuwait.”

Russian lawmaker charged with racism over ‘Obama banana’ image

“A pro-Kremlin lawmaker and former Olympic gold medallist faced a racism row Saturday after she posted a photo-collage of President Barack Obama juxtaposed with a banana on Twitter. Irina Rodnina posted on Twitter a photomontage that purports to show Obama and his wife gazing at a hand in the foreground holding up a banana. After the post sparked a storm of disgust on Saturday, Rodnina deleted the message, but insisted she believed she had done nothing wrong. ‘Freedom of speech is freedom of speech! Deal with your hangups yourself,’ she wrote defiantly on Twitter, saying the post had boosted her rating.”

Arming Terrorists and Disarming Americans

“The Obama administration’s plan to provide small arms to the Syrian Rebels was approved by Congress. Good luck finding the transcripts of these committee meetings though… they were classified. When asked about the Senate Intelligence Committee’s vote to arm the rebels, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), the committee chair, responded ‘It’s classified.’ (Which is a polite way of saying ‘it’s none of your business’) That’s right. Dianne Feinstein — the author of the ‘Assault Weapons’ Ban – doesn’t believe that the American people have a right to know who the government is giving small arms to. That oversight requirement apparently only should apply to American citizens.”

Eric Margolis: Obama, Don’t Play Chess With KGB
“Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize should be rescinded and given, instead, to Vladimir Putin.
Add a warning to Obama’s amateur foreign policy advisors: ‘don’t play chess with the KGB!’ In fact, Obama, who rudely snubbed former KGB agent Putin recently, owes Russia’s leader a ‘Bolshi Spaseba’ (big thanks) for pulling his bacon out of the fire in Syria. Putin brilliantly demonstrated to the world the difference between diplomacy and force, the rapier versus the cudgel.”

Musty Idea: War To Maintain “Credibility” As A Global Hegemon
“In the most recent episode of U.S. war hysteria, the media was filled with endless remarks on how Syria had to be attacked to maintain U.S. ‘credibility’. These individuals, and many others just like them, care not a whit about the lessons of history. Ronald Reagan sang the same interventionist tune while he was President. Even after 241 U.S. Marines were killed in the Beirut barracks bombing, he kept up the ‘credibility’ rhetoric. The warring classes know that the American public has a short memory. Few will recall what happened in Lebanon and the ‘credibility’ garbage that was tossed around back then.”

Fmr. Pres. Candidate Michael Badnarik Weighs in on Rush to War w/ Syria
“John Kerry and John McCain would have been on opposite sides of a war debate 40 years ago. Today, they stand together with the president supporting a military strike on Syria. Republican Rand Paul of Kentucky took the Secretary of State to task for his viewpoints on the future of Syria. This was just a few days after former Democratic lawmaker Dennis Kucinich said President Obama may face impeachment if he attacks Syria without Congressional authorization. Matt Drudge, normally a well-known conservative, tweeted that there is no difference between the parties. The publisher of the Drudge Report stated that politics is now ‘Authoritarian vs. Libertarian.'”
John Yoo’s Anti-Constitution Beliefs
“I have yet to read anything by law professor John Yoo that I do not strongly contest. This would not be worthy of mention except that he has occupied high and influential positions in the U.S. Department of Justice. His positions on torture, enemy combatants (Guantanamo), surveillance and presidential powers to make war, even if they have come under strong attack, had a lot of influence. Basically, if he had his way, the president would be an elected dictator who would not have to pay any attention to important parts of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.”

Cheer Up, Obama. Israel Is Happy With Your Syria Plan

“Whatever is being said elsewhere about U.S. President Barack Obama’s performance in the Syria crisis, the verdict from Israel can be read in the morning papers: ‘Wise’… ‘Credible’ ….’An American victory.’ The American leader who for the first four years of his presidency could never quite win the trust of the Israeli public now is being hailed as a model of principled resolve, a Churchillian figure whose insistent threat of force — an Israeli specialty — extracted a promise to remove weapons of mass destruction from one border, and in terms that will not be lost on an Iranian regime suspected of harboring an even larger threat in its nuclear program.”
