Government shutdown is not a tax holiday: Taxes still due Oct. 15th

“The contingency plan for the Internal Revenue Service released by the Treasury Department shows that even though the agency will have to halt major operations in the event of a shutdown, it has no plans to push back any filing deadlines. That means tax returns — and tax payments — are still due by Oct. 15, the filing deadline for any taxpayers who received an extension. Among those expected to file by the 15th are the many same-sex couples who requested extensions while they waited for the Supreme Court to rule on the constitutionality of same-sex marriage.”
