[Tax-funded propaganda instead of teaching] “Struggling Indiana public school districts are buying billboard space, airing radio ads and even sending principals door to door in an unusual campaign aimed at persuading parents not to move their children to private schools as the nation’s largest voucher program doubles in size. The promotional efforts are an attempt to prevent the kind of student exodus that administrators have long feared. If a large number of families abandon local districts, millions of dollars could be drained from the state’s public education system.”

Palm scanning causing concern among Moss Bluff Elementary parents

“A local elementary school is trying to implement a new program in their cafeteria. But the palm vein scanner is being met with much opposition from Moss Bluff Elementary parents.  A letter introduced a new program, the palm vein scanner, to move students through the lunch line at a faster rate. With almost 1,000 students, Principal Charles Caldarera says the system will reduce errors.  Caldarera says they are trying to implement the program as soon as possible, but if you are a parent and don’t want your child to participate, you must contact the school by Wednesday.”

Romanian constitutional court puts impeached president back in power

[How Western interests overrule democracy.] “Romania’s Constitutional Court ruled Tuesday that a referendum to impeach the country’s president was invalid, leaving Traian Basescu in power after months of political turmoil.  In the referendum an overwhelming majority of voters — 87 percent — supported ousting Basescu, so the USL contested the electoral rolls after the ballot, forcing the top court to rule on its validity.  The European Commission and the United States have voiced deep concern over the ruling coalition’s controversial moves to impeach Basescu which they said threatened the rule of law.”

Israel arrests teen girls over hate attack on Palestinians

“Jerusalem police arrested two 15-year-old girls on Monday, bringing to seven the number of Jewish teenagers arrested in connection with a brutal hate attack on young Palestinians last week. One of the girls incited the teenagers to attack the young Arabs by saying that she had been attacked by Arabs in the past.  The Israeli government has expressed condemnation of the attack, which took place in Jerusalem’s central Zion Square, a busy late-night meeting place in the heart of the city’s bar and entertainment district.  Press reports said there were hundreds of onlookers who failed to intervene.”
