Prosecutors: ‘Anarchist’ group of U.S. soldiers aimed to overthrow government

“A U.S. soldier laid out an elaborate plot by a group of active and former military members to overthrow the government, telling a southeast Georgia court Monday that he was part of what prosecutors called an ‘an anarchist group and militia.’ The four men became part of a group that aimed ‘to give the government back to the people,’ according to Burnett, who admitted that revolution was its goal. They called it FEAR — Forever Enduring Always Ready, and spent thousands buying guns and bomb parts. The government needed a change, Burnett told the court. ‘I thought we were the people who would be able to change it.'”

Iraq vet arrested on terrorism charges after jogging with airsoft training rifle

“A US veteran is facing charges of terrorism after being arrested for trying to get some exercise. That’s William Alemar’s story, at least. Authorities have charged 23-year-old Army National Guardsman and Iraq war veteran William Everett Alemar with ‘committing a terroristic act and wearing body armor while committing a felony offense.’ After spotting Alemar, authorities ordered him to the ground and then seized the weapons. He was initially held on $50,000 cash bond.”

Security Meltdown at Republican Convention in Tampa

“When I started counting, the number of machine guns strapped to National Guard or Secret Service personnel totaled 28. All roads but one leading to the Forum were barricaded, some with snowplow trucks, and the line of cars and trucks angling to make it through wrapped around two blocks. Ditching the car, it took an hour to make it inside through twisting paths marked by security fences and confused guards. And that was before making it to a dark, covered, leaky passageway featuring wet blue Astroturf. The more troubling news is the Secret Service decision not to allow umbrellas within the perimeter.”

Not to be outdone by the dozens of other federal, state, local, and other law enforcement agencies swarming the delegates as they attempted to enter the RNC, even uniformed agents of the Transportation Security Administration were called to duty at the entry checkpoint for this ostensibly ‘private’ convention, in another case of obvious mission creep for the constitutionally derelict agency.

Bernanke: More room for Fed action. Market runs up.

“The stock market keeps getting tossed around by the Fed. Stocks opened lower Friday but reversed course after a letter surfaced from Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke suggesting there was room for the central bank to do more to help the economy. ‘There is scope for further action by the Federal Reserve to ease financial conditions and strengthen the recovery,’ Bernanke wrote to California Rep. Darrell Issa, a Republican, in a letter obtained by The Wall Street Journal.”

Overall, it was a friendly, diverse group of libertarians of differing scales. They were all in this liberty movement because they value peace and freedom. It was the same type of crowd I’ve seen at every Ron Paul event or libertarian gathering. If Jesse Benton thinks we are ‘bad news’ it is simply because he isn’t part of the liberty movement.”

“I am on that rules committee that passed the rule allowing candidates to throw out national delegates and alternates. The article you linked missed another detail in the proposal whereby all national delegates and national alternates are bound at future conventions even if state party rules leave them unbound. It also prohibits a caucus/convention process in Minnesota and elsewhere from deciding which candidate wins the support of the state’s delegates.”
