Maastricht mayor does u-turn over cannabis club membership

“Locals in Maastricht should no longer have to formally register as marijuana users to buy soft drugs from the city’s cannabis cafes, mayor Onno Hoes said in a letter to councillors on Wednesday.  Hoes says the number of foreigners trying to buy soft drugs has fallen so sharply that the membership cards are no longer necessary.  Hoes also hopes this will reduce the number of street dealers who have appeared since the ban was introduced.  The marijuana pass system is due to be introduced in the rest of the country, including Amsterdam, in January next year.”

Arthur Balom, 44, accepted bribes, provided the armored car killer with a bulletproof vest and helped sabotage the FBI’s drug sting, according to allegations made in court documents.”

Virginia judge sentenced to 30 days for growing 41 marijuana plants

“A judge in Virginia has been sentenced to 30 days in jail for growing more than 40 marijuana plants in his home, according to the Associated Press.  Attorney and substitute judge James H. Allamong Jr. was sentenced on Monday after the felony charges were knocked down to a misdemeanor.  The marijuana plants were discovered by fire fighters last year who had responded to a blaze at a building near Allamong’s home. He said the plants were purely for personal use and that he used to drug to treat the pain from injuries he sustained in Vietnam.”

90+ Arrests of DC Cops Past 4 Years

“In the past three and a half years, more than 90 D.C. police officers — from detectives to captains to the rank-and-file cops on the street — have been arrested, a Washington Examiner analysis of police data has revealed.  Metropolitan Police Department officers have been nabbed within the District and as far away as Florida. They’ve been arrested on charges ranging from to child pornography to murder. The majority are DUI and domestic violence arrests, though some cases stand out.”

Transit Police Chief Christopher Trucillo explained that the VIPR teams – local police units supervised by agents from the TSA – were part of an initiative called BUSSAFE, an outgrowth of RAILSAFE, which was launched a year ago.  The purpose of the program was ‘to increase uniform police visibility…. Just to step on a bus and have somebody visually look in the bus, and have the folks on the bus see a police presence, and to give a sense of security to folks who use the bus daily.'”

U.S. Embassy in Yemen stormed; new protests reported at other embassies
