James Altucher: Why I Won’t Vote

http://freedomwat.ch/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/AP_romney_obama_debate_121017_wg1.jpg

“People get very upset about this voting thing. I’m accused of being unpatriotic, for instance. Or my little 10 year old told me, ‘more people will run stop signs if we don’t have a President.’ She associates a President with a magical parent. Perhaps projecting her own sense that I don’t give her enough boundaries for her to figure out where the edge of childhood ends and adulthood begins. I let her run a Stop sign when I don’t set a bedtime, or turn her TV off. She wants a President who will  tell her when to ‘STOP!’  So here are some reasons for not voting. I’m not asking anyone to agree with me. Many people like to vote. Do things that you like to do.”

The New Trend in Gold

http://freedomwat.ch/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/GoldETPsVSCoinsBars-489x3261.jpg

“Why is this happening? And what does it mean?  Certainly some of the shift stems from concerns with the funds themselves. Another reason for the shift is certainly due to global economic, fiscal, and monetary concerns. As fears of systemic risk ratchet higher, it’s only natural for investors to gravitate toward the safest methods for holding physical metal. Throw in events like what happened to MF Global last year, and it’s easy to understand why many investors would prefer holding their own bullion over a fund.  More important, what should we do as a result of this trend?”

Where the Big Players Are Buying Housing

“The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta has put out a very informative chart on where three big money players are buying houses, how much they are spending and a bit about their investment strategies.  Distressed sales are declining because these giants, and others, are picking up what is on the market.  The housing downturn is over. From the supply side prices will be pushed higher. If Bernanke’s new money printing gets into the system, prices will also be pushed higher from the demand side.”

What Ben Bernanke Will Do When the Accelerated Price Inflation Hits

“Many are familiar with the Ben Bernanke book, Essays on the Great Depression, which is a compilation of writings about the Great Depression by various economists.  Fewer, however, are aware that Bernanke contributed to a work on inflation, Inflation Targeting.  This second book may provide us with important clues as to how Bernanke will act if price inflation begins to accelerate. And, indeed, it appears that some time in 2013 a perfect storm of actors may develop to push price inflation much higher.”

Gaza Toy Blockade Preserved

“A Finnish peace ship carrying such contraband as soccer balls, toys, and children’s books was captured in international waters and its passengers caged. Free trade remains a crime.”

South Korean Activists Send Leaflets to North Korea

http://freedomwat.ch/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/a57a2d6ac61d49e8ac53ccd5aefe298b_mn2.jpg

“South Korean activists floated balloons carrying tens of thousands of anti-Pyongyang leaflets into North Korea on Monday, eluding police who had disrupted an earlier launch attempt due to threats from North Korea.  North Korea’s military warned last week that it would strike if the South Korean activists carried through with their plan to fly balloons carrying the propaganda leaflets across the border. South Korean police, citing security concerns, had sent hundreds of officers Monday to seal off roads and prevent the activists and other people from gathering at an announced launch site near the border.”

Second Michigan county says “NO!” to federal NDAA kidnapping

http://freedomwat.ch/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/425757_116386061851843_1571234211_n2.jpg

“On Thursday, yet another local government condemned detention provisions written into the National Defense Authorization Act.  The Oakland County, Mich. Board of Commissioners unanimously approved its Support for the Preservation of Liberty resolution Thursday evening.   Oakland County joins Allegan County in Michigan, and at least 15 local government bodies nationwide, taking a stand against federal kidnapping. Sources close to the Tenth Amendment Center indicate at least another dozen local and county governments are considering similar resolutions.”

I’m Astounded by This Terrorism Statute

“What crimes, what infractions, what nuisances, what boycotts, what speech, what assaults, what picketing, what ad campaigns, what harassments, what torts, what public demonstrations, what signs, what shouts, what vandalism, what threats will not be called terrorism? Congress in 2006 passed a law called ‘The Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act’ to ‘protect’ biomedical researchers and pharmaceutical companies from animal rights activists.”

Kuwaitis protest electoral law changes

http://freedomwat.ch/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/2012102261610653734_202.jpg

“Police in Kuwait have used teargas, stun grenades and baton charges to disperse tens of thousands of demonstrators protesting against changes to the electoral law, which the opposition has called a ‘constitutional coup’ by the government.  Protesters gathered in various parts of the capital, Kuwait City, to march towards the government’s headquarters, but riot police swiftly surrounded some groups and used teargas and stun grenades to disperse them.  The government – which is dominated by the ruling al-Sabah family – announced last week it was calling elections for December 1 and would change the electoral law.”

Spain To Ban Photos of Police on Duty

“Deputy Prime Minister Soraya Saenz de Santamaria said after months of television and Internet scenes of sometimes violent clashes between police and demonstrators, a balance had to be struck ‘between citizens’ right to protest’ and the need ‘to uphold the integrity of state security forces.’  The government’s plans were unveiled a day after Spain’s director general of police, Cosido Ignacio, said efforts are under way to secure such a ban.  Television images of clashes near Parliament on Sept. 25 showed several protesters bloodied and in need of medical attention.”
