“We are being told that this is the work of one small radical faction allied with al-Qaeda. However this is just a technique of isolating this indefensible act from the rebellion as a whole. But it is a lie. Time and time again the rebels have attacked civilians and blamed the attacks on the government. It is how a guerilla insurgency is fought. This is the rebellion to which the Obama administration has recently pledged an additional $45 million.”

“The devaluation of the rial and soaring prices of staple goods are the latest signs that western sanctions – targeting the regime’s nuclear programme – and government mismanagement are compounding the country’s economic woes. On Wednesday, many foreign exchange dealers and bureaux across the country refused to trade dollars and some currency-monitoring websites refused to announce exchange rates. The authorities were also reported to have jammed signals of the BBC’s Persian service as the protest unfolded.”

“In 2002, Thomas Harkins was permanently removed by the Catholic Church after 20-plus years of allegations that the former clergyman had molested children at parishes across the East Coast. Today, he’s your friendly TSA agent. Despite being excommunicated and forced to pay around $195,000 to settle civil lawsuit relating to a barrage of sex-crime charges in the greater Philadelphia area, Harkins, now 65, didn’t have a problem finding a new job after being booted from the Catholic Church in 2002.”
“TSA is introducing the new full body scanner system to the American airports. The scanners will be capable of detecting every tiny trace of any substance of your body to find gunpowder or any bomb making materials. However the devices can also trace the level of adrenaline in the body. RT’s Kristine Frazao has more on the subject.”

“The number one offender on the iAWFUL list is a cluster of federal bills that would impose new tax burdens on online and catalog sellers while taking away states’ sovereign right to protect their businesses from foreign tax collectors. The Fall 2012 iAWFUL runner up features outdated laws being used to squash competition, stifle innovation, and increase costs to consumers. New disruptive businesses models from companies like Uber, AirBNB, and TrueCar are generating opposition from traditional entrenched businesses. Entrenched businesses are twisting laws designed to protect consumers.”

“As you might expect, these intrusions into the public’s lives have done little to improve California’s economic situation. Every new initiative costs the state more money, and those costs are either passed on to the public in the form of new taxes and fees, or simply piled onto the state’s massive debt – a debt that now exceeds that of the entire nation of Greece. What’s happening in California is, unfortunately, not simply an isolated problem. Many in the U.S. Congress have shown a willingness to continue attacking freedoms we previously took for granted.”

“Just a few short years ago, joining the Eurozone was the cherished hope of many of Europe’s poorest countries. Greece was so desperate to get in that it hired Goldman Sachs, which only helped to obscure further the extent of the Greek budget deficit. Now, several years into the European debt crisis, it’s not simply that some countries may want out (like Finland) but that potential new members no longer want in.”

“The FBI said Friday that a U.S. Border Patrol agent killed in Arizona earlier this week was likely a victim of friendly fire, CNN reported. According to The Associated Press, Ivie was shot while responding to a possible undocumented immigrant crossing at a portion of the U.S-Mexico border near Bisbee, Arizona when he and another two agents responding to the same call mistook each other for hostile gunmen. One of the other two agents was injured during the exchange of gunfire that killed Ivie.”
