Bitcoin more powerful than fastest supercomputers

“The power of all the computers networked together to maintain the digital currency’s system far exceeds the combined processing strength of the top 500 most powerful supercomputers. Easily. The matchup isn’t even close.  At any given moment, Bitcoin’s peer-to-peer network contains thousands of computers linked together to generate more than 1,000 petaflops of raw computing power. To put that in perspective, the world’s fastest supercomputer, Titan, runs at less than 18 petaflops. The Bitcoin network is sucking down nearly $200,000 a day in electricity costs. That’s stunning for an ‘economy’ that sprang into being just four years ago.”

Cold fusion reactor independently verified, has 10,000 times the energy density of gas

“Against all probability, a device that purports to use cold fusion to generate vast amounts of power has been verified by a panel of independent scientists. The research paper, which hasn’t yet undergone peer review, seems to confirm both the existence of cold fusion, and its potency: The cold fusion device being tested has roughly 10,000 times the energy density and 1,000 times the power density of gasoline. Even allowing for a massively conservative margin of error, the scientists say that the cold fusion device they tested is 10 times more powerful than gasoline — which is currently the best fuel readily available to mankind.”

New lithium-ion battery design: 2,000 times more powerful, recharges 1,000 times faster

“Researchers at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign have developed a new lithium-ion battery technology that is 2,000 times more powerful than comparable batteries. According to the researchers, this is not simply an evolutionary step in battery tech, ‘It’s a new enabling technology… it breaks the normal paradigms of energy sources. It’s allowing us to do different, new things.’  In real-world use, this tech will probably be used to equip consumer devices with batteries that are much smaller and lighter — imagine a smartphone with a battery the thickness of a credit card, which can be recharged in a few seconds.”

California man posing as cop charged with sexual assault

“Stepp reportedly used a website to arrange for a meeting with a prostitute at a hotel in El Segundo, California. Police spokesperson Lt. West Point sergeant accused of filming naked female cadets without their consent

“A West Point sergeant in charge of teaching cadets has been accused of videotaping a dozen female officers without their consent, including times when they were in the shower, according to military officials. The Army confirmed reports Wednesday it had filed charges against Sgt. 1st Class Michael McClendon under four articles of the Uniform Code of Military Justice for cruelty and maltreatment, indecent acts, dereliction in the performance of duty and actions prejudicial to good order and discipline. The charges, filed May 14, come at a time when the U.S. military has come under intense scrutiny for the way it handles sexual harassment and abuse cases.”

When Terrorism Comes Home

thelrcblog-5002

“Several observers have pointed out the similarities between today’s savage attack in London, where a British soldier was reportedly beheaded by two men shouting ‘Allahu Akbar,’ and the gruesome recent attack by US/UK-supported Free Syrian Army Commander Abu Sakkar, who cut out and devoured his Syrian Army soldier victim’s heart. That US overt and covert support of the insurgency in Syria, including its radical and al-Qaeda affiliated elements, is a known fact. But we know that eventually these US-supported Islamist radicals with Western passports will come home — and now we have a better idea of what might be in store for us when they do.”

2 FBI Agents Involved in Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s Arrest Killed During ‘Training Exercise’

EPJ13

“According to a statement from the FBI, two FBI special agents were killed last Friday during a training exercise off the coast of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Special Agent Christopher Lorek and Special Agent Stephen Shaw were members of the FBI’s elite Hostage Rescue Team, part of the Critical Incident Response Group based at Quantico, Virginia. The cause of the incident is under review, the FBI said.  Prison Planet reports that last month, the team was involved in the arrest of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings.  People surrounding the Tsarnaev brothers are dying at a faster than rate those who were somehow connected to the JFK assassination.”

The Grand Jury: An Affront to Liberty and a Political Prisoner Machine

“On Tuesday, May 21, 2013, anarchist lawyer and activist Gerald ‘Jerry’ Koch was taken into custody in New York City for refusing to testify before a grand jury regarding the 2008 Times Square Military Recruitment Center bombing. This is the second time Koch has been subpoenaed, after the government informed his lawyers that it was believed that he was at a bar in 2008 or 2009 where a patron indicated knowledge of who had committed the bombing.  Koch, who has a record of defending Occupiers and activists, faces 18 months behind bars.”

Governor Kills Funding For Florida Snitch Program

“Florida Governor Rick Scott has killed funding for a controversial ‘violence prevention program’ in Florida which caused a public backlash after the Sheriff’s office in Palm Beach County encouraged people to report on their neighbors for anti-government rhetoric. The program would have created a 24 hour hotline via which citizens could report ‘suspicious behavior,” prompting “a knock on the door and a referral to services’ by specially trained deputies and mental health caseworkers.  Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw stoked anger when he suggested the program would be used to target political free speech deemed potentially violent by authorities.”

Texas Man Transporting His Unloaded Firearms Through NJ Now Doing 3-5 Years in Prison

“A TX man, who was in the process of moving to Maine, made a very simple mistake, and never made it to his hew home. Dustin Reininger is serving a 3-5 year prison sentence in the Garden State because he made a mistake, he stopped to take a nap in NJ during his multi day drive from Texas to Maine. Police approached Reininger’s car when he was taking a nap near a bank in Readington, NJ. Reininger would not have been arrested if his guns were simply in locked cases, or if he possessed a NJ Firearm Owner’s Identification Card, which not being a resident of NJ, he obviously did not possess.”
