FEMA Grounds Private Drones Helping To Map Floods, Threatens Arrests

“Boulder, Colorado has been hit by massive flooding over the past week, and it’s been something of a mess. A local company, Falcon UAV, makers of special drones which are built for the government, approved by the FAA, and specialize in using GPS and cameras to generate highly accurate maps, started helping to map the damage with those drones. It was basically making very useful, near real-time maps showing the floods. You’d think that would be useful to, say, FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency in charge of helping to coordinate the response to the floods. Instead, FEMA ordered the drones grounded or it would have people from Falcon UAV arrested.”

Destroyer of Mankind Now a Museum Piece

“What was just a few months ago a backyard project by an ‘insurrectionist’ is now considered so valuable it has earned a spot in a well-known British art museum.  Earlier this week, London’s Victoria & Albert Museum of Art and Design announced that it’s buying two of the original ‘Liberator’ printed guns from Cody Wilson of Defense Distributed, Forbes reports. The museum will display the guns during its ongoing Design Festival. No price has been disclosed. The guns was designed by Wilson and constructed from parts made on a 3D printer, horrifying government officials who quickly moved to prohibit Wilson from sharing the plans on his website. The files went viral instead.”

FBI a ‘secret domestic intelligence agency,’ ACLU says

“In the wake of the National Security Agency spying scandal, the American Civil Liberties Union shifted attention Tuesday to the FBI with a report that described the bureau as ‘a secret domestic intelligence agency.’  The report says that changes in law and policy since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks have allowed the FBI to expand its intelligence-gathering and investigative authorities, infringe on Americans’ privacy and evade constitutional oversight.  Developing technologies have enabled the FBI to collect and analyze vast amounts of information about countless Americans without any suspicion of wrongdoing, the report says.”

Fresno: Laboratory for Martial Law

“Six police departments will participate in the initiative, which will gather surveillance videos and information from huge computer databases for use by a half-dozen ‘crime analysts.’ Those officials will identify so-called ‘hot spots’ and try to anticipate criminal activity before it occurs.  This system is an adaptation of the ‘pattern-of-life’ analysis used by counter-insurgency forces in Afghanistan and Iraq. Beginning in 1994, the Fresno PD’s Violent Crime Suppression Unit, which describes itself as the department’s ‘special forces’ auxiliary conducted block-by-block house searches and saturation patrols in targeted neighborhoods.”

Ohio cop on paid leave after threatening handcuffed family with Taser

“Police in Washington Township, Ohio are investigating an officer’s conduct after footage surfaced online of him waving his Tazer at two people already handcuffed on the ground and seemingly grabbing a teenage boy during a traffic stop.  The Toledo Blade reported on Wednesday that Officer Eric Hart was on paid leave while his department investigates his encounter on Sunday with Aaron Tatkowski, his daughter-in-law Cassandra Meyers, and Meyers’ 14-year-old son.  The description for the video contends that Hart blocked Tatkowski’s driveway while stopping Meyers, and that the confrontation began after Tatkowski asked Hart to move his vehicle.”

Arkansas mayor fires rifle seized by police, shattering city hall window

“An Arkansas mayor admitted this week that he had accidentally fired a rifle inside city hall, shattering a window.  Flippin James ‘J.J.’ Hudson told the Baxter Bulletin that nine days after he fired the rifle that had been seized by police, the incident had been ‘all been taken care of; it’s all been cleaned up.’  ‘I’m not going to have any further comment on it,’ he said.  But according to the paper, the shards of glass could still be seen over the entrance of city hall and the window had still not been repaired.”

Apparently, SWAT teams are reserved for low-risk drug raids and killing 107-year-old men armed with pistols, rather than for responding to actual danger.”

The most common form of treatment for PTSD is Paroxetine, which is listed as the number 3 top violence-causing drug by the Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP).  Despite it being reported that prescription drugs were found in the apartment of ‘Batman’ shooter James Holmes days after the Aurora massacre, it took nine months to find out exactly what those drugs were. Like Columbine killer Eric Harris, Holmes had been taking Zoloft, another SSRI drug linked with violent outbursts.”
