Students Petition To Execute Gun Owners In Concentration Camps

“‘We just want to make sure we disarm the citizens. We can trust the government to be the only ones with guns.’ Dice said to students on campus in San Diego, while they unquestioningly signed the petition to ‘repeal the Second Amendment.’  ‘These peasants don’t need guns,’ Dice stated, adding ‘We want to put all registered gun owners in prison,’ prompting one student to replay ‘Yes, it’s too dangerous.’ for people to own guns.  ‘It’s just a simple repeal of the Second Amendment and we’ll be terminating and executing all of the gun owners.’ Dice told another signatory who replied ‘OK, thank you.’ and walked off.  Dice has persuaded Americans in his area to agree to repeal the entire Bill Of Rights.”

Hyper-security (Homeland Security, etc.) along with travel and financial restrictions and censorship could – almost inevitably – include the potential for increased draconian measures up to and including camps of various sorts.  Also, we have a feeling – just a feeling – that Scalia is sounding a warning based on what’s being discussed at high levels around him. In other words, he is not just speculating but has decided to broach a subject of considerable speculation within the military, Intel agencies, etc.”

Exonerations On The Rise, And Not Just Because Of DNA

“At least 87 people were set free for crimes they did not commit last year, the highest number since researchers began keeping track more than 20 years ago. Some of those people spent decades in prison before release.  And it’s no longer just DNA evidence that’s driving exonerations, the registry’s report finds. It’s because police and prosecutors have been more willing to investigate themselves.  Only one-fifth of the exonerations last year relied on newly tested DNA. More than 30 percent occurred because law enforcement agencies reopened a long-closed case or handed over their records to someone else who wanted to take a look.”

How Long Can a Cop Keep You After a Traffic Stop? No One’s Sure

“How long is too long? 15 minutes? Seven minutes? 20 minutes? An hour?  Last Friday, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit weighed in on what they think constitutes a not-too-long amount of time.  The court said the stopwatch starts after the citation is issued, not after the car is pulled over, and that an additional six to seven minutes is a de minimis (or insignificant) intrusion on a driver’s privacy, regardless of how long the stop lasted prior to the issuance of the citation.”

Homeland Security Puts Live Video Feeds In Boston Buses

“Sophisticated new 360-degree lenses embedded in the ceilings and walls of the buses will now capture everything.  There are also cameras on the exterior of the buses.  The system cost $6.9 million, all paid for by Homeland Security.  Eighty transit police cruisers will also soon have touch screens, so officers can look live right into a bus that they may be following. ‘It is pretty amazing. You pull up the camera system, then you already have a description of the suspect. He could be looking at the cameras as you are following the bus,’ MBTA Transit Police Officer Luke Sayers said.  Transit Police from their downtown dispatch headquarters will also be able to monitor hundreds of buses in real-time.”

“A richly documented and tightly argued amicus curiae brief filed on his behalf by the US Justice Foundation, Gun Owners Foundation, and several other public interest groups contends that the ruling by the appellate court in Texas ‘establishes a per se rule that, every time the police have a valid warrant, they can execute it without knocking, violating the Fourth Amendment at will,’ if they discover that a resident has a legally owned firearm.  ‘If the police are now permitted to justify no-knock raids any time there is a firearm in the residence,’ observes the brief, ‘no American home is safe from a terrifying, middle of the night home invasion.'”

Officer Points Gun At Restaurant Patron To Prove He’s A Cop

“Oakland police Officer Kevin Kelly, 24, had been talking to another patron having breakfast at a restaurant there and told her he was a police officer, but she didn’t believe him, Esparza said.  To prove it, Kelly, who had been drinking, allegedly pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the woman and at the restaurant’s ceiling, Esparza said.  The woman told the restaurant’s staff that Kelly had a gun and the police were called. Kelly was arrested and cited for misdemeanor brandishing a firearm, Esparza said. His weapon, which was not department-issued, was booked into evidence, according to Esparza.”

Deputies Burned Man’s Genitals With Taser For Dropped Cigarette

“Johnson could ‘smell his flesh burning from the tases’ and was screaming in pain, according to the complaint.  Johnson told NBC4 he begged the deputies to stop and repeatedly told them he was not resisting. He was eventually arrested for battery on a police officer, though he maintains in the complaint he never engaged in any physical contact with the deputies.  Abdulfattah allegedly told Johnson to ‘shut up’ when Johnson said his father needed his inhaler, the complaint stated.  LA County Sheriff’s Department officials would not comment on the case except to describe one of the deputies in question as ‘the best deputy in the division.'”

Experts Increasingly Contemplate End Of Smoking

“A confluence of changes has recently prompted public health leaders to start throwing around phrases like ‘endgame’ and ‘tobacco-free generation.’  Acting U.S. Surgeon General Boris Lushniak last month released a 980-page report on smoking that pushed for stepped-up tobacco-control measures. His news conference was an unusually animated showing of anti-smoking bravado, with Lushniak nearly yelling, repeatedly, ‘Enough is enough!’  ‘I can’t accept that we’re just allowing these numbers to trickle down,’ he said, in a recent interview with the AP. ‘We believe we have the public health tools to get us to the zero level.'”
