“A homework assignment on the anniversary of 9/11 is the source of controversy in Texas after the instructions asked 7th grade students to write a farewell letter as if they were about to die in the attack.  A language arts teacher at Fairview Junior High in Alvin, Texas asked students to pretend they were trapped in one of the towers or planes, then asking who they would write a letter to if they knew they were going to die.  Parents of the students were outraged when they found out about the assignment. The school district released an apology to the families.”

Controversial Florida pastor Terry Jones arrested for kerosene-soaked Korans

“A controversial Florida pastor was arrested before he planned to burn almost 3,000 copies of the Koran on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, US media reported. Terry Jones, 61, was detained in the town of Mulberry, near Tampa, and faces charges of transporting fuel illegally and openly carrying a firearm, the Orlando Sentinel said. Deputies said Jones was riding in a pickup truck that was towing a trailer carrying a large barbecue-like grill filled with kerosene-soaked Korans. According to Jones’s website, he had plans to burn 2,998 Korans in the Tampa Bay area on Wednesday, in recognition of victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks.”

“Like a surprise Christmas eve gift, this year’s 9/11 eve came with something even more insane than normal.  Nobel peace prize winner Barack Obombya made a special appearance on American TV programming (it’s not called programming without reason) to try to plead his case to rain down hell upon innocent men, women and children… somewhere else.  The most fascinating part about what he was saying is that Americans must now support Al-Qaida (Al-CIAda) to kill people in Syria!  Why?  Because it’s a war on terrorism!  That war, by the way, was supposed to be against people like Al-Qaida who, according to the official conspiracy theory, started the war on terrorism.”

Missiles raining down from the sky and destroying buildings, killing loved ones and rendering others homeless is no less terrifying than what happened in New York City in 2001. Attacks like Saturday’s are routine in Afghanistan, as they were for eight years in Iraq. The death toll of innocent civilians is in the hundreds of thousands. The refugees number in the millions. For the people of Iraq, 9/11 happened every day for eight long years. It wasn’t two buildings. It was whole cities and their entire civilization that was reduced to rubble.  Americans simply have no concept of what the face of war at home really looks like.”

“Today, Al Qaeda and its affiliates maintain a presence in ‘some 16 different theaters of operation – compared with half as many as recently as five years ago,’ according to the report.  In Syria in particular, the civil war may be providing Al Qaeda ‘with a chance to regroup, train, and plan operations, much as the US invasion of Iraq revitalized the network and gave it new relevance,’ notes the report.  While these Al Qaeda groups have been busy expanding in other parts of the globe, within the confines of the United States, the threat of attacks ‘has shifted away from plots directly connected to foreign groups,’ in the report’s estimation, ‘to plots by individuals who are merely inspired by them.'”
