CBS 2’s undercover cameras captured one experience — eight people who didn’t know each other eating a meal in a stranger’s home.  That hostess, Naama Shafi, writes about food but is not a chef. Leitner found her through a website, which connects amateur foodies and professional chefs in 20 different countries with people who want unique dining experiences.  Clandestine dinner parties like the one Leitner attended are completely unregulated.  If caught hosting an underground dinner party, the hosts could be fined $2,000 and ordered to shut down.”

“Reid said Tea Party Republicans are preventing progress on an energy efficiency bill by offering amendments on ObamaCare and other unrelated issues.  ‘They’ve taken over the House and now they’ve taken over the Senate.  People who don’t believe in government — and that’s what the Tea Party is all about — are winning, and that’s a shame.’  Wait until Reid sees what it is like when the private property society advocates takeover and not just the anarchist-lite Tea Party-types. Then we start to get serious: no minimum wage laws, no taxes, no Department of Education or Enery, and an end to the Fed…..for starters.”

Whom would you HIRE to intervene in Syria?

“We have no problem with the police intervening to end a criminal shootout. So why do we so passionately oppose having the U.S. federal state intervene in Syria and other places? There are multiple reasons. The Feds have a really bad track record (you can read a summary here); Tend to support bad guys and establish dictatorships; Constantly create new enemies; Force all Americans to support these interventions, even when they offend personal conscience.  But does this mean that we have to sit idly by and watch bad things happen to good people overseas? We don’t think so. Instead, imagine what would happen if we had a Separation of Intervention and State.”

Substitutionary Justice In A Free Society

“Imagine if you will that the following scenario takes place in a free society:  Someone has information about a group who was committing horrible acts of violence across the globe. The leaders of the group claim their rights were violated by the individual, and they convince a court to find this person guilty. The group convinces the court that the individual’s actions are so heinous that he must spend the next 136 years of his life in jail. Now, on the other hand, many of the people who were informed of the horrible misdeeds of the group are not convinced.  Some of the people are so adamant in their support, that they offer to serve a portion of his sentence in order for him to go free.”

Police Crackdown at Burning Man Alarms the Community

“Workers and volunteers who arrived early to Nevada’s Black Rock Desert for the annual art, self-reliance, and free-expression event called Burning Man are reporting an unprecedented police presence on the playa, and whispers of a police crackdown on the event are spreading.  Burning Man has historically been a peaceful event with little to no incidents that would merit increased law enforcement. For example, at last year’s event, which had more than 52,000 attendees, a total of four drug-related arrests were made and 13 nonviolent misdemeanor citations were given (in lieu of arrests) according to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office. No violent crimes were recorded.”
