“The crippling of NSA.gov comes amid a series of damning national security documents that have been disclosed without authorization by former intelligence contractor Edward Snowden. The revelations in the leaked documents have impassioned people around the globe outraged by evidence of widespread surveillance operated by the NSA, and a massive ‘Stop Watching Us’ rally is scheduled for Saturday in Washington, DC.  An NSA spokesperson told ABC News they are ‘looking into the Issue,’ but said the spy agency’s internal network was ‘not at all’ bothered, nor was any classified information in danger.”

Cop Beaten Up on Camera While Bystanders Watch; No One Calls 911

“When a Philadelphia transit officer attempted to detain a ticket-scam suspect near a train station platform last week, surveillance video records the suspect turning on the cop and wrestling him to the ground, pinning him between a glass barrier and a bench.  But the video also shows a crowd of at least seven transit customers observing the fight, including one who pulled out her phone to record the incident.  Notably a similar incident happened at the same train station last week, WTXF reported. And again video captured two plain-clothes officers getting beaten up in front of a much larger crowd at Cecil B. Moore station in north Philadelphia.”

Sophisticated U.S. Arms Flowing to Jihadists

“Fox News is reporting a stunning theft of U.S. arms by jihadist salafists in Libya. This news item will be made much of by critics of Obama on the right. However, military and government blunders, cost overruns, unneeded weapons systems, and general mis-management are par for the course. Of more relevance is the light this sheds on the U.S. arms being shipped into Syria. There are no significant controls that prevent these arms from reaching the most terror-prone and jihadist elements among the Syrian rebels, whose numbers are large in proportion to all the rebels. This decision to ship arms was foolhardy from the get-go, and now it looks even more ill-conceived.”

The Attack at the Kenyan Mall

“Consider the attack at the Westgate mall in Nairobi, Kenya, blowblack for Kenya’s interference in putting down militants against the Somalian government.  Al-Shabaab, a Somalia-based cell of the militant Islamist, has targeted Kenya  after the Kenyan government sent thousands of troops into Somalia in 2011.  The US clearly has been an instigator, coaxing Kenya to send troops into Somalia.  An NYT slideshow of the attack is here.  Note to conspiracy theorists: The NYT photographer just happened to be near the Nairobi mall at the time of the attack.”

Somali militants claim ‘blowback’ motivation for Nairobi mall attack

“At least 39 people were killed when masked gunmen stormed an upscale Nairobi mall, Kenya’s president said on Saturday. Al Shabaab militants said the attack was retaliation for Kenya’s involvement fighting Islamists in neighbouring Somalia.  Masked gunmen killed 39 people when they stormed an upscale shopping mall in Nairobi, Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta said in a televised address on Saturday, adding that he lost family members in the attack claimed by Somalia’s al Qaeda-inspired al Shabaab rebels.
The Islamist rebels said the massacre was in direct retaliation for Kenya’s military intervention in Somalia, where African Union troops are battling the Islamists.”

Brazil hackers accidentally attack NASA as payback for NSA surveillance

“Hackers have hit back in retaliation for US cyber-spying on Brazil but mistook the US space agency NASA for the National Security Agency (NSA), a news website reported here Tuesday.  ‘Some activists decided to protest this US practice but it seems that they picked the wrong target,’ a specialized blog of the Brazilian news portal Uol said.  ‘They hacked NASA’s web page and left the message: Stop spying on us,’ it said.  The hackers’ message also called on the United States not to attack Syria.  A NASA spokesman confirmed that a Brazilian hacker group last week posted a political message on a number of NASA websites.”

Al-Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri calls for U.S. attacks and economic boycott

9/11 happens every day to war torn nations

9/11 Commission leaders push for changes in US terrorism fight

“Today, Al Qaeda and its affiliates maintain a presence in ‘some 16 different theaters of operation – compared with half as many as recently as five years ago,’ according to the report.  In Syria in particular, the civil war may be providing Al Qaeda ‘with a chance to regroup, train, and plan operations, much as the US invasion of Iraq revitalized the network and gave it new relevance,’ notes the report.  While these Al Qaeda groups have been busy expanding in other parts of the globe, within the confines of the United States, the threat of attacks ‘has shifted away from plots directly connected to foreign groups,’ in the report’s estimation, ‘to plots by individuals who are merely inspired by them.'”
