Despite obvious warning signs, people almost universally allow themselves to ignore reality.  It’s human nature to want to believe that everything is going to be OK. And when our political leaders whisper soothing words of hope and optimism, we take the bait.  Looking back, it was plain as day that Mexico was going to devalue the peso. Everything about the economy and currency was totally unsustainable. Deep down people knew it.  Similarly, it was plain as day that Hitler was going to decimate Poland. And people knew it.  Yet millions allowed their confidence to be misplaced in leaders who assured them that everything was OK.  Are we so different?”

There They Go Again: Fed Officials Give Rate Timetables

“Federal Reserve officials insist that the outlook for interest rates depends on how economic data evolves and isn’t driven by the calendar. They are nevertheless offering various views on the probable timing of the first increase since 2006.  The Fed’s pledge that interest rates will stay low for a ‘considerable time’ could mean anything from two months to one year, Vice Chairman Stanley Fischer said today.  New York Fed President William C. Dudley said this week that forecasts for an increase in mid-2015 are ‘reasonable.’ Today, San Francisco Fed President John Williams said that timeframe is a ‘reasonable guess to my mind.'”

Obama’s New Ebola ‘Czar’ Has No Medical, Health Care Background

“President Barack Obama on Friday turned to a trusted adviser to lead the nation’s Ebola response as efforts to clamp down on any possible route of infection from three Texas cases expanded, reaching a cruise ship at sea and multiple airline flights.  Facing renewed criticism of his handling of the Ebola risk, Obama will make Ron Klain, a former chief of staff to Vice President Joe Biden, his point man on fighting Ebola at home and in West Africa. Klain will report to national security adviser Susan Rice and to homeland security adviser Lisa Monaco, the White House said.  Klain does not have a medical or a health care background.”

Man gets ticket for running stop sign, dashcam video shows he didn’t

“Mr. Kratofil happened to have a dashboard camera recording as he was driving through Jefferson Hills. In the video, you can see that he comes to a complete stop. KDKA even brought the video to driving instructor Jim Clair, who confirmed that Mr. Kratofil hadn’t rolled through the intersection. When the station brought the video to Jefferson Hills Police Chief Gene Roach, he viewed it and decided to ask the police officer responsible for writing the ticket to withdraw it. However, Chief Roach did defend his officers. ‘He defends his officers, saying technically…the law says you stop at the stop sign, you move forward, stop again, until you can see that the intersection is clear and then you go.'”

Either these politicians are trying to manipulate the American people with scare tactics, or they don’t know what the phrase ‘existential threat’ actually means.  Please understand, it’s IMPOSSIBLE for Islamic extremists to win our hearts and minds.  It’s even MORE impossible for them to conquer us using random terrorist acts.  In other words, nothing ISIS could do threatens our existence.  Thus, I DENY CONSENT to any action that uses ISIS as an excuse for military attacks; budget increases; new restrictions on civil liberties.”

New IRS rule could cut into restaurant workers’ tips

“Even as President Obama and progressive activists are trying to sell the nation on hiking the national minimum wage to help restaurant workers and other low-wage employees, the Internal Revenue Service is seemingly determined to make life harder for those same workers.  A change in tax policy implemented Jan. 1 will prevent restaurant workers from collecting automatic gratuities as part of their tips. Instead, that added fee will be included in their payroll, meaning workers have to wait up to two weeks to get that extra cash and must pay additional taxes on it. It means less money in servers’ pockets and more for the federal government.”

He made a promise: if the USSR took apart the Warsaw Pact, NATO would not move one inch closer to the USSR. In 1991, the USSR was officially dissolved. A new Russian state replaced it — much smaller.  Clinton broke the promise in 1996. NATO has moved steadily eastward, bringing in mini-states that the U.S. government does not need to defend. NATO should have been dissolved no later than 1992.  We are now trying to bring Ukraine into NATO. That has gone too far for Putin, as well as the eastern Ukraine.”

“The US federal government may be ladling on more regulations to Bitcoin and making disparaging comments about the cyber-currency, but it’s one of the largest holders of the virtual money in the world.  The federal government has trashed Bitcoin by way of an investor alert from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority entitled ‘Bitcoin: More than a Bit Risky.’ FINRA said it issued the alert to caution investors that buying and using digital currency, such as Bitcoin, carries risks. The government still holds 110,000 bitcoins, worth $55 million at today’s price.  The US government is the second largest single holder of this unregulated, potentially ‘worthless’ digital currency.”

“Department of Justice attorneys for the Internal Revenue Service told Judicial Watch on Friday that Lois Lerner’s emails, indeed all government computer records, are backed up by the federal government in case of a government-wide catastrophe.  The Obama administration attorneys said that this back-up system would be too onerous to search.  [..] The Obama administration had been lying to the American people about Lois Lerner’s missing emails. There are no ‘missing’ Lois Lerner emails – nor missing emails of any of the other top IRS or other government officials whose emails seem to be disappearing at increasingly alarming rate. All the focus on missing hard drives has been a diversion.”
