Obama mocks Lew’s loopy signature: Don’t devalue the dollar with illegible writing

http://freedomwat.ch/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/Obama-and-Jack-Lew-via-AFP1.jpg

“President Barack Obama jokingly joined in criticism of Jack Lew’s signature on Thursday, urging his Treasury nominee to change it before it appears on the greenback and risks devaluing the dollar.  Lew’s doodle-like eight-loop signature — a cute but utterly undecipherable scrawl described as an ‘unraveled slinky’ by one graphologist — has quickly drawn more media buzz than the budget guru’s politics.”

Enhance Public Safety: Disarm the Police!

“The arrogance and irresponsibility displayed by law enforcement personnel in these cases – and thousands just like them – demonstrate beyond serious dispute that public safety would be enhanced if we were to disarm the police. Armed members of the productive class are busy earning the wealth plundered to pay the police; we shouldn’t be expected to track down the guns they allow to fall into the hands of private sector criminals.”

Delaware taxpayers increasingly on the hook as Fisker auto plant idles

http://freedomwat.ch/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/bidengm31.jpg

“Delaware taxpayers appear to be getting soaked twice under a deal in which the Democratic governor loaned $21.5 million to a hybrid electric carmaker to set up shop in the state. The company has yet to produce a car in Delaware, and taxpayers are footing the electric bill for the idle plant.   The deal was enthusiastically announced in 2009 by Gov. Jack Markell and Vice President Biden — formerly Delaware’s senior senator — as a way to bring as many as 2,500 green jobs to the state. But California-based Fisker Automotive Inc. has since suffered a series of setbacks that have compounded its shaky financial situation.”

How Much TSA Abuse Is Enough?

“What on Earth does the TSA have to do to bump up against some serious resistance?  If you feel like you’ve been sexually molested, you can go and cry on YouTube, like Miss USA did, but that’s about as much sympathy as you’re gonna get. You were molested for everyone’s protection.  And let’s not forget the recent firing of 400 TSA agents for massive theft.  If Americans are OK with a genital grab here and there, why not expand it to other places besides the airport?  The longer that this goes on, the more emboldened the state will get, and that’s exactly what they’ll (slowly, of course) start to do.”

Occupy hatches plot to destroy payday loan industry

http://freedomwat.ch/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Business-man-handing-cash-to-another-person-loaning-money-via-Shutterstock-615x3451.jpg

“‘The Debt Resistor’s Operations Manual’ is 122 pages of some of the dodgiest financial advice we’ve ever seen.  It’s no wonder the entire thing was published for free and written by ‘an anonymous collective’ of contributors.  Here’s one of their more elaborate plans to upend the predatory payday lending industry, which involves finding 1,000 people from three different continents willing to commit fraud.”

Spain halts evictions of vulnerable homeowners

http://freedomwat.ch/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/A-woman-stands-next-to-a-banner-reading-Stop-evictions-during-a-protest-near-Barcelona-in-July-2012.-AFP2.jpg

“Spain announced Thursday a two-year halt to evictions of the most vulnerable home owners as a public outcry mounted over suicides linked to desperate people facing expulsion.  The Spanish Banking Association announced Monday it was freezing mortgage-related evictions for two years in extreme cases. Savings banks, too, suspended expulsions while awaiting new government rules.  Many people were shocked by two suicides in 15 days by indebted homeowners facing expulsion in Spain, where both banks and borrowers were hammered by a 2008 property crash.”

Wal-Mart workers plan Black Friday walkout

http://freedomwat.ch/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Walmart-store-jpg1.jpg

“A group of Wal-Mart workers are planning to stage a walkout next week on Black Friday, arguably the biggest holiday shopping day for the world’s largest retail store.  The walkout builds on an October strike that started at a Wal-Mart in Los Angeles and spread to stores in 12 other cities. More than 100 workers joined in the October actions.  According to Anthony Bianco, author of Wal-Mart: The Bully of Bentonville, butchers at a Wal-Mart supercenter in Jacksonville, Texas, voted to form a union in 2000 — the first time employees had done so. But soon after that, Wal-Mart eliminated butcher departments in its stores across the country.”

Americans Aged 18-29 Have A More Favorable Response To Socialism Than To Capitalism

“In the prior post, we showed a presentation that looked at America from the perspective of a corporation and how it would be completely unsustainable. Luckily, there is little probability that America will ever have anything to do with S-Corp status, and far more likely end up as an agrarian Kolhoz. The reason: based on a Pew survey of America’s youth, or those aged 18-29, more have a positive view response toward Socialism than they do toward Capitalism. We will leave it at that.  Socialism: 49% Positive / 43% Negative.  And Capitalism: 46% Positive / 47% Negative.”

Poll: Nearly One Third Of Americans Would Accept ‘TSA Body Cavity Search’ in Order to Fly

http://freedomwat.ch/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/081112tsa2.jpg

“A new survey commissioned by Infowars and conducted by Harris Interactive has found that almost one third of American adults would accept a ‘TSA body cavity search’ in order to fly, with a majority of Americans also feeling a law that would make disobeying a TSA agent in any public place illegal is reasonable.  The shock results emphasize the level of indignity Americans are willing to tolerate in order to travel.  They also highlight how the TSA’s reputation has remained largely intact despite a series of scandals and widespread criticism from innumerable public figures.”

Puerto Ricans push for U.S. statehood in referendum vote

http://freedomwat.ch/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/A-local-San-Sebastian-Festival-Host-by-Joseph-via-Shutterstock2.jpg

“For the first time, a majority of Puerto Rican voters expressed support for changing their homeland’s status from a U.S. commonwealth to full statehood Tuesday night.  According to CNN, the non-binding referendum on the issue was split into two questions. Residents voted against remaining a territory by a margin of 54 percent to 46 percent in the first part of the referendum, while 61 percent supported statehood in the second part.  President Barack Obama expressed support for the referendum.  Puerto Rican Secretary of State Kenneth McClintock said economic factors weighed heavily in statehood winning majority support.”
