IMF’s World Tax Is a Puzzling Ploy

the-daily-bell-top-logo61

“It seems clear for some reason that the IMF wants to advance the case for a global tax, though why it would want to adopt such a controversial proposal at this time is unclear. Perhaps the proposal is simply in line with other tax policies now being implemented. The most prominent one comes from the US government, which intends to tax expatriated residents via their banking connections.  The rollout of this policy is taking place this year but is also receiving a lot of pushback.  It could be that the IMF tax proposal is a way to implement further globalist tax strategies that can operate in conjunction with US efforts. There is no evidence that such a tax will solve the problems it is supposed to address.”

Edward Snowden: Dialectic Piñata

the-daily-bell-top-logo61

“Of course, Snowden’s charges have made members of the US – and Western – Intel community uncomfortable. But this is a small price to pay for months of media. On the one hand, Western Intel agencies have now been ‘outed’ along with their capabilities. On the other, a ‘dialogue’ is proceeding with the aim of rationalizing what has been accomplished and fitting it into a larger structure of ‘law and order.’ The idea is to legalize what’s been accomplished. The end result is that people are to be further terrorized when it comes to their private lives and that they are not to have any legal recourse. Additionally, Snowden himself is to be demonized.”

Directed History of Modern Debtors’ Prisons?

the-daily-bell-top-logo61

“From the standpoint of intimidation, poorhouses, workhouses and debtors’ prisons certainly concentrate one’s mind.  These are not abstract issues, obviously. And for men, especially, issues having to do with the dangerous ramifications of modern debt are never further away than a protracted and divisive divorce.  It may appear that these sorts of mechanisms are the results of increasingly stressed government finances in the West. But we are more cynical than that these days. The establishment of these facilities is likely pre-planned and municipal economic difficulties are merely a justification.  Call it Directed History …”

Reuters Makes the Rational Case for a Surveillance State

the-daily-bell-top-logo61

“The dialogue that Snowden has started can now be used to create a dialectic that will result in the rationalization of mass spying. Gradually, the idea that there is no privacy left – if Anglosphere elites have their way – is going to be enshrined into law. This will take a number of years. In the meantime … We will be bombarded over the next few years with constant reminders of how efficient government Intel is at spying and how much they know. This is actually a further meme aimed at terrorizing people who want to resist the encroaching Leviathan.  This Reuters article advances both these points in an almost mechanical way.”

Marijuana Breath Test, Alternative To Controversial Blood Test For Pot?

“Currently, THC-blood tests are the norm in most states that have laws regulating marijuana use while driving. They generally dictate that drivers caught with THC in their bloodstream at a level of five nanograms of THC per milliliter of blood are considered ‘under the influence’ and may be subject to penalty.  But unlike blood-alcohol level, which have a direct correlation with a driver’s intoxication, blood-THC levels don’t necessarily indicate a level of impairment.  In one study, six of 25 participants who had consumed marijuana still tested positive for active levels of THC after a full seven days of abstaining.”

Farce of Globalism: World Bank Becomes Top Cop?

the-daily-bell-top-logo61

“The World Bank has a new mission. The Economic Times tells us that the World Bank has a new enemy to confront. It is not poverty but ‘corruption.’  The reason that these enormous global facilities are receiving more and more power and authority is not because they work well or even work at all. It is because the internationalists who set them up want them to expand as a way of building world government. Call it directed history. These agents of globalism will continually acquire power no matter the reality of their missions. They were never what they appeared to be. In the 21st century, it becomes increasingly apparent as the Internet Reformation era advances.”

S&P: Britain’s euroscepticism a major factor in EU’s loss of triple-A rating

“Britain’s political debate over the future of its EU membership and the Prime Minister’s promise of European referendum in 2017 were cited as important factors in the uncertainty surrounding the Union’s future.  ‘The UK has recently passed a bill calling for a referendum on continued EU membership, which is the first time in the EU’s history that a sitting government has proposed such a step,’ said the S&P statement.  ‘Although this potential plebiscite is set for 2017, the UK general elections are expected in 2015 and we expect EU membership to be a key debate.’  Cuts to the EU budget earlier this year, for the first time in its 56 years history, are regarded as a major risk.”

United Nations Approves Internet Privacy Resolution

“The United Nations’ human rights committee passed a ‘right to privacy’ resolution that was sponsored by Germany and Brazil. The new document protects the right to privacy against illegal surveillance even in the online world.  The resolution states specifically that governments and companies who deal with surveillance or data interception ‘may violate or abuse human rights.’  Despite the already-long history of the Internet, this is the first time that human rights in the online medium are mentioned, pointing out that these should prevail, everywhere.  Fifty-five countries co-sponsored the resolution, including nations such as France, Russia and North Korea.”

Chinese Bitcoin crackdown sparks revenge cyber-attack

“China’s central bank is thought to have been targeted in a revenge cyber-attack by investors infuriated at government attempts to destroy the local Bitcoin market.  As the yuan-denominated value of Bitcoins collapsed today, the website and official, Twitter-style weibo account of the People’s Bank of China suffered a series of crashes believed to have been caused by hackers.  Although the attacks were not claimed by any group, they followed a decision by Beijing earlier this week that will effectively shut down Bitcoin trading on China’s online exchanges. Bitcoins have proved exceptionally popular in China.”

Bill Bonner: Why Democrats are Plotting Against Obamacare

131216sword1

“Why would Congress exempt itself from the program? Because it knows it’s a bum plan.  Why would the law take more than 2,000 pages to explain? Because there are so many boondoggles and giveaways hidden in it.  Why isn’t there more resistance from insurance companies, drug manufacturers and the medical industry? Because they’re all in on it.  And another pertinent question: Why is the implementation so sloppy and incompetent?   Ah… glad you asked.  Apparently, a website that was meant to service a sector that accounts for one-sixth of US economic output was set up without any significant testing. It was almost as if they didn’t want it to work.”
