Federal Judge Upholds Marijuana’s Schedule I Status

“A federal judge has rejected a motion challenging the constitutionality of cannabis’ classification as a Schedule I prohibited substance without any accepted medical utility.  Judge Kimberly J. Mueller of the Federal District Court in Sacramento, California issued her oral ruling during a 15-minute court hearing on Tuesday. Judge Mueller heard closing arguments in the case in early February, but she had postponed ruling on the matter until this week. Her written opinion was not available at the time of her ruling.  In October, experts for the defense presented evidence over a five-day period arguing that the scientific literature is not supportive of the plant’s present categorization.”

House Committee Expresses “No Confidence” in DEA Administrator

“Today, members of the House Oversight Committee have issued a statement of ‘No Confidence’ in Drug Enforcement Administrator Michele Leonhart. The unprecedented move by a group of over twenty bipartisan lawmakers comes a day after her shambolic performance in Congress during a hearing focused on DEA agents who paid for sex workers and sex parties using taxpayer dollars.  Leonhart was widely panned and her answers deemed inadequate during testimony on her agency’s handling of sexual harassment and misconduct allegations. The call to dismiss Leonhart comes against a backdrop of scandals and incompetence at the DEA.”

Cops Assault 17-Yr-Old Then Try To Delete Video; They Failed

“The officers proceeded to tell the teenagers that the vehicle smelled like marijuana and demand that the passengers step out of the vehicle.  At this point, there were four cop cars on the scene over a broken license plate light and the alleged smell of marijuana. The teenagers are asked to step out of the vehicle.  Brandon was ultimately tased four times. Eight cops were on the scene, with at least five of them involved in the assault on the unarmed teen.  At the end of the video, you can see an officer looking around the vehicle with a flashlight and then shutting off the camera. Brandon is currently imprisoned until July on charges of assault and battery on a police officer and resisting arrest.”

Rapper Nelly Stopped For Missing ‘Fuel Tax’ Sticker, Arrested For Drugs

“Tennessee Highway Patrol said in a news release that Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Haynes, was pulled over about 9:20 a.m. because the bus he was riding in failed to display a U.S. Department of Transportation and International Fuel Tax Association sticker.  According to the release troopers smelled marijuana when they reached the bus.  When troopers searched the bus, they found five rocks that tested positive for meth, as well as a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.  The St. Louis native is facing charges including felony possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.”

Officer Caught On Tape Taking $2,650 During Untaxed Cigarette Raid

“NYPD detective Ian Cyrus, 49, was caught on video allegedly stealing $2,650 from a Brooklyn deli during a raid over untaxed cigarettes.  An undercover officer allegedly bought a pack of Newport cigarettes from the deli for $9 which police say didn’t have a ‘tax stamp,’ two employees were arrested as a result and $593 was officially seized, as well as the rest of the untaxed cigarettes.  After local media covered the story, NYPD detective Ian Cryus was suspended without pay, his supervisor was stripped of his badge and moved to desk duty, and another officer involved who allegedly failed to report the deli owner’s complaint was placed on modified duty.”

Native tribes debate entering legal pot business

“Some Native American tribes have done very well for themselves in the casino business. But for tribes whose lands are far off the beaten track, that business won’t work. Many are being encouraged to look for jobs in the energy sector or develop e-commerce ventures, but some are being told they could make millions of dollars using wide open spaces on reservation land growing a very lucrative crop: marijuana. The possibility of growing marijuana popped up in December, when the Justice Department surprised tribal leaders with a memorandum suggesting that the agency may consider looking the other way if tribes got into the cannabis business.”

“It had become a bigger, badder version of the Silk Road drug bazaar in its short life, but Evolution, founded on 14 January last year, has apparently been closed and one staffer is claiming the admins have scammed its huge user base. The site, based on the anonymising Tor network, was home to nearly 20,000 drug sales at the time of its apparent demise, far more than Silk Road or its subsequent iteration Silk Road 2, but also sold weapons, from guns to tasers hidden in fake cigarette packets, and plenty of fraud material. It was also slicker, faster and more professional than other dark web markets, but is ostensibly no more.”

Astonishing Images Show $4.2 Million In Seized Dark Market Drugs

“Officers in Leipzig apprehended two individuals they believe to have been involved in the web-based Shiny-Flakes narcotics dealership, one a 20-year-old whose apartment was searched on 26 February and a 51-year-old Bulgarian courier.  From the search of the apartment and further seizures of shipments, a whopping 360kg of drugs were acquired by the police, including crystal meth, cocaine, speed, ecstasy tablets, LSD, hashish and marijuana. Combined, the drugs were worth just over $4.2 million. A cool €48,000 ($50,461) in cash was also found alongside all those illegal substances. The stash really is something to behold, as seen in the images sent over by the law enforcement agency.”

Washington Parents Accused of Child Abuse For Using Marijuana

The Thompsons are both medical marijuana users with doctor’s prescriptions. Jesse Thompson, a cancer survivor, takes it for pain, while Vicca Thompson, 43, uses it for arthritis and a nervous condition. They run their business, a medical marijuana dispensary and garden store called the Grow Shop, where they sell home-grown strains of marijuana as well as marijuana edibles, and are strong advocates of medical marijuana. In November 2014, authorities came for the Thompsons’ son Jerry.”
