U.S. Police Have Officially Killed 400 People in 2015

“The police have killed someone on average, every 7.48 hours.  While there is no government-run database, Killed By Police has taken it upon themselves to keep track, and are doing a fantastic job thus far. The three youngest are A’donte Washington, Jason C. Hendrix, and Kendre Omari Alston who were all only 16-years-old.  The oldest was 87-year-old Lewis Becker.  At least four officers have also been shot and killed by other officers.  Meanwhile, the Officer Down Memorial Page is reporting gunfire related deaths of on-duty officers is down 43%. According to an FBI report, Americans are less violent than ever, yet the police seem to be growing increasingly violent.”

Off-Duty Cop Wrestles, Slams Woman Into Car After Fender-Bender

“After video of a man wrestling a woman and throwing her against a car came to light Tuesday, the San Jose Police Department issued a warrant – for the woman’s arrest.  Of course the man ‘being assaulted’ was none other than an off-duty San Jose Cop in plainclothes. The officer reportedly approached the woman – without identifying himself as a police officer – after a fender bender between their cars.  Rather than write down their license plate number and take it from there, as many of us would do, he proceeded to attack what appears to be a teenage girl.  During the struggle, he yells out that he is a cop, but to the casual observer, he looks to be a sadistic abductor.”

Cryptocurrency ‘Ripple’ Pursues Freezing Funds of Former Co-Founder

“Ripple, the so-called decentralized payment network, has frozen funds worth more than US$1 million that belong to the company’s former co-founder Jed McCaleb.  Since their initial launch, Ripple has represented themselves to the public as a payment network of ‘decentralized’ gateways that convert different assets or types of payments—such as bitcoin or Paypal—into IOUs tradeable in the Ripple network.  On August 1, 2014, Ripple introduced a feature called ‘Balance Freeze’ which allowed the network’s gateways to freeze and prevent funds from being traded, an action that they claimed was necessary to protect the gateways’ wallets from being compromised.”

Bond Damage Tally: $430 Billion Lost as Slump Put in Perspective

“Global bond markets have lost about $430 billion since the start of last week as investors ponder the end of a six-year rally that sent yields to record lows.  Traders returning from Europe’s May Day holidays sent yields surging across the continent as tensions between Greece and its creditors worsened, adding to the anxiety. Yields began the climb last week as prominent bond investors from Jeffrey Gundlach to Bill Gross questioned the viability of negative yields with the European Central Bank’s stimulus measures appearing to put an end to the risk of deflation.”

I Wish My Job Didn’t Exist

“I was not hired to teach students, perform research or help our students become better leaders. But without my work, many of our students would not be able to enroll in our university.  My work entails keeping Norwich out of trouble with many regulations, such as the Clery Act, FERPA, and Title IX, but I’d like to focus on perhaps the most maddening set of regulations—those pertaining to online education. Over the last four years, Norwich has spent over $500,000, a figure that includes my salary, fees paid to states, surety bonds, agent permits, registered agents, and travel costs. Not one cent had any educational value.”

Common Sense: Police State Blues

“No reason anymore to even feign surprise at today’s police state insanities.  At Townhall yesterday, I bemoaned the six-hour kidnapping of a 10-year-old Maryland boy and his 6-year-old sister for the terrible crime of peacefully walking home from a public park.  The children were grabbed just a couple blocks from their home . . . by police, who held them for over two hours before handing them to Montgomery County Child Protective Services.  It was hours before anyone contacted the panicked parents.  There’s no law prohibiting kids from walking down a public street, but bureaucrats are threatening this poor family over just that.”

Freddie Gray dies one week after Baltimore arrest for nothing

“Video recorded at the scene shows Gray, with his hands behind his back, screaming as police raise him to his feet. They drag him to a waiting van. The attorney added that Gray’s spinal cord was severely injured.  At this point, police are declining to say much about the case, citing ongoing administrative and criminal investigations.  They have not released the incident report, nor have they released the names of the officers involved.  When asked why officers first encountered Gray, Baltimore Police Dept. Capt. Eric Kowalczyk told CNN that they had been working in an area known for violent crime and drug sales. When the officers approached him, Gray fled, Kowalczyk said.”

Police Imposing Death Sentence Without Trial

Certainly not, yet this is the way they behave. Don’t forget that last comment: ‘F**k your breath.’ Listen to it on the tape and you will hear the contempt dripping in his voice. This went far beyond unprofessional. It was hatred, pure evil, the kind of bloodlust that in an earlier age might have been called a war crime. Yet, so far as we know, this officer will face no discipline at all. His department blames ‘auditory exclusion.’ One of Tulsa’s finest allegedly did not know the man he was restraining had just been shot.”

Congress Pushes Obama-backed National Biometric ID for Americans

“The legislation, officially dubbed the ‘Legal Workforce Act‘ (H.R. 1147), is ostensibly aimed at preventing illegal immigrants from obtaining jobs. Among the most troubling elements, though, is that the bill would purport to mandate a national ID card for every American as a condition of working. It would also force every employer in America to purchase and use so-called ‘E-Verify technology’ to check with Washington, D.C., as to whether potential employees have government permission to work. Finally, it would create a massive federal database containing sensitive data on virtually every person in the country — a database that could easily be expanded to include even more information.”
