Is There Really GMO Pot?

“The irony is that while marijuana has definitely been ‘genetically modified’ to contain higher levels of THC, that change didn’t involve the tools of modern biotechnology.   In the 1950s and 1960s many plant breeders employed ‘mutation breeding’ to increase the chances of finding DNA changes that would result in new traits.  They would also use the toxic chemical colchicine to induce the plants to double their number of chromosomes, something that sometimes leads to more vigorous growth.  The crops developed using these clumsy tools have never been regulated or safety tested like biotech crops.  They qualify for use in organic farming.  Such crops would not have to be [GMO] labeled.”

10 Signs The Global Elite Are Losing Control

“The more the elite try to control humanity, the more entropy occurs. Entropy, for those who don’t know, is the lack of order or predictability; a gradual decline into disorder.
Although the elite still enjoy a huge wealth advantage over the masses, they are now resigned to behaving like tyrants to maintain control. This, in turn, exposes their dark side which has been cleverly concealed for ages. Not anymore. People are waking up in droves, at least as fast as the elite can build their full-spectrum prison matrix.  Let them try.  To paraphrase Victor Hugo, ‘No army can stop an idea whose time has come.’  Here are ten signs that the elite are losing control over the people.”

Tilapia raised on feces hits US tables

“They can survive in hopelessly polluted environments, they can be bred and raised in garbage cans and, when necessary, can subsist on a diet of other animals’ excrement.  It makes Tilapia so easily farmed that Americans eat close to 500 million pounds of it a year.  It also makes it bland and not particularly healthy for you. When its diet consists of manure, however, it’s basically like feeding them salmonella and E.coli.  The large amount of antibiotics that are given to the fish to ward off infections from the manure — which is used as a cheap alternative to fish feed — makes the strains of salmonella and E.coli those fish catch extremely hard to eliminate.”

The Shocking Ingredients In Beer

“Is beer really healthy? Why are the ingredients not listed on the label? Which brands can we trust? Which brands are trying to slowly poison us with cheap and harmful ingredients? All of these questions were going through my head at once at lightning speed. So a year ago, I started to research what was really in beer and after questioning several beer companies, reading books about food science, and talking to experts, the information I discovered was downright shocking.  I see it all the time. Someone who eats organic, makes the right choices at the grocery store, is fit and lives an extraordinarily healthy lifestyle but then drinks beer like it is going out of style.”

Monsanto Marijuana Initiative Grows in Uruguay?

“Monsanto, under attack regarding its GMO seeds, may need a new market to re-establish credibility and even popularity – as marijuana will surely prove a more welcome crop than soy in the public mind. Monsanto’s efforts as regards marijuana in Uruguay may be helped by the overwhelming government involvement in the cultivation, sales and marketing of marijuana. With its talent at bending smaller governments to its will, Monsanto may find a significant opportunity in Uruguay to establish an even more aggressive business beachhead. There is no doubt that the Uruguayan government will dominate marijuana production, at least in the short term.”

The Catastrophe of Modern Farming: A Full-Fledged Organic Opportunity

the-daily-bell-top-logo61

“Organic farming is a great way to diversify one’s portfolio with tangible assets producing an essential product with returns that correlate only weakly with stocks and bonds. Many are aware of the controversy regarding Monsanto and the general reshaping of foodstuffs using modern tools of bioengineering. There is certainly enough concern to make organic farming attractive from both a consumer and investment standpoint. The numbers back it up. The industry is now grossing about $63 billion globally. According to the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM), the industry grew an amazing 170%, averaging about 19% per year over the past decade.”

Mercantilist Monsanto: Driver of Organic Farming

the-daily-bell-top-logo61

“Rigid criteria exist for a serious scientific journal to accept a peer-reviewed paper and to publish it. As well there exist strict criteria by which such an article can be withdrawn after publication. The Journal of Food and Chemical Toxicology has apparently decided to violate those procedures, announcing it is retracting a long-term study on the toxic effects of Monsanto Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs)—GMO Maize it published a year ago. The bizarre reports come only six months after Elsevier created a special new position, Associate Editor for Biotechnology (i.e. GMO), and filled it with a former Monsanto employee.”

NYC’s Bloomberg led the way on trans fats ban

“In the years before the city took action, big agribusiness companies had already spent years developing alternatives to the main source of trans fat – partially hydrogenated vegetable oil. Yet there was little market demand for alternatives, which included blends of soybean, cottonseed and palm oils.  McDonald’s, KFC and other restaurant companies had quietly been experimenting with substitute frying oils and shortening for years, trying to see if they could make the switch without consumers noticing a change in taste. All of those efforts went into overdrive when Bloomberg’s health board implemented the ban, and effectively created a huge new marketplace for trans fat alternatives overnight.”

Soylent gets a $1.5 million infusion of venture capital

“TechCrunch is reporting that Rob Rhinehart’s Soylent, the nutritionally complete meal replacement shake/drink mix, has just closed out a $1.5 million seed funding round from a wide mix of investors led by Andreessen Horowitz and Lerer Ventures. This is on top of the $1.5 million in pre-orders the company already amassed as part of its crazy-successful crowdfunding run earlier this year.  The project has been a poster child for crowdfunding success—in fact, the sheer volume of orders has caused its own set of delays in scaling Soylent from a hand-mixed product for a few dozen testers to a mass-produced meal replacement for hundreds of thousands of customers.”

‘Monsanto Protection Act’ attached to Obamacare defunding bill

“The House Republican government funding bill, which passed in the House last week, contains a three-month extension of the Monsanto Protection Act, which shields companies like Monsanto and Dow Chemical from legal action resulting from Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) crops. The Act also places the authority of whether or not GMO crops can be grown and sold domestically into the hands of Federal Department of Agriculture rather than with the courts or public referendum. The Democratically-controlled Senate is making no plans to work to keep the rider active beyond its current expiration date.”
