Oklahoma Man On No Fly List Fighting To Come Home

“An overseas Oklahoman who hasn’t been on the Sooner soil for more than a decade is now fighting to come home.  Forty-three-year-old Saadiq Long lives in Qatar where he teaches English. In April, the U.S. Air Force veteran was told he was on the Department of Homeland Security’s no fly list.  He’s been fighting to get taken off the list ever since, but now he’s running out of time.  Long’s mother who still lives in McAlester is terminally ill. Long will try to fly back to Oklahoma this week to visit her, perhaps for the final time.  Long, a U.S. citizen, hasn’t been given a reason for why he’s on the list.”

‘Fusion centers’ spark security controversy

“The federal government has spent hundreds of millions of dollars to help establish more than 70 such ‘fusion centers’ throughout the country.  The idea was for the centers to serve as a domestic information-sharing network that would help local, state and federal law enforcement agencies better collaborate to prevent a future attack.  But a two-year inquiry released earlier this month questions the value of such centers saying they’ve provided irrelevant, useless or inappropriate information that, in some instances, threatened people’s constitutional rights.”

“Despite video evidence of fraud, bad credentialing and an improper vote without roll call at the state convention, the Credentials Committee has ruled against Oklahoma.  The ‘PLP’ are the brave souls that continued the improperly adjourned convention in the parking lot at the Embassy Suites in Oklahoma, after convention officials started putting up partitions that closed off part of the delegation from voting. Several hundred delegates attended the rump convention, citing improper procedure, inaccurate voting, and incorrect credentialing at the convention inside.”

Oklahoma City says sex offenders can’t live in tents at trailer park

“About 30 sex offenders living in tents in a south Oklahoma City trailer park will need to find new homes.  The men vacated trailers at Hand Up Ministries when a new law that prohibits sex offenders from living together in manufactured homes took effect July 1.  That’s when Hand Up founder, the Rev. David Nichols, moved some offenders to tents instead. The Oklahoma City Development Services Department issued a notice of violation stating tents are not permitted on the property the way it is zoned. It gave the nonprofit 30 days to comply or face a $500 fine.”  [How the state destroys private solutions to social problems.]
