His testimony included how citizens under Castro were first disarmed by legislation similar to that being shepherded along by Gun-Grabber in Chief Floyd Prozanski. Defenseless, many Cuban Citizens were later summarily slaughtered.”

Texas prosecutor, wife gunned down two months after assistant DA killed

“The top law enforcement officer in one Texas county and his wife were found shot to death in their home on Saturday.  Kaufman County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Justin Lewis confirmed to KTVT that Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland and Cynthia McLelland had been killed.  An assault rifle had been used to shoot the district attorney multiple times, KTVT reported. His wife was only shot once. Their home reportedly showed no signs of forced entry.  Authorities are investigating if the case is related to the January slaying of Kaufman County Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse, according to Kaufman Police Department Chief Chris Aulbaugh.”

West Virginia sheriff fatally gunned down outside courthouse

“A West Virginia sheriff was shot and killed outside a courthouse in downtown Williamson on Wednesday.  According to WCHS-TV, Mingo County Sheriff Eugene Crum had been shot and killed at around 12:04 p.m.  A suspected shooter was also shot before being taken into custody. The condition of the suspect was not immediately known.  Officials told WSAZ that Crum had been on his lunch break when he was gunned down.  The Mingo County Courthouse was evacuated, but no other injuries were reported.  Crum was known for his Operation Zero Tolerance program targeting illegal drug trafficking.”

Knife Control Lobby Considers Response to Mass Knifings at a Texas College

“The brutal, senseless knifing of a dozen students at a community college in Texas has mobilized the knife control movement.  Apparently, authorities expected a series of copy-cat knifings.  Knife control advocates are considering whether now is the right time to call for background checks on citizens who buy knives. The possibility of universal knife registration is being considered.”

FBI reports U.S. citizenship renunciations for Q1 2013 nearly doubled year over year

“The FBI has released its latest report on Active Records in the NICS Index, updated to 31 March 2013. NICS now contains the records of 21,504 persons who are prohibited from purchasing firearms in the United States because they swore an Oath of Renunciation of United States Citizenship at a U.S. consulate abroad. This is an increase of 196 records as compared to 28 February, and 850 records in the first quarter of 2013 (since 31 December 2012).”

Homeowner, 80, charged in shooting of burglar: ‘Unjust that I can’t protect me’

“Awakened by his 75-year-old wife, Wright confronted a 19-year-old burglar who had broken through some plywood over a bathroom window in hopes of stealing liquor, according to police. Wright grabbed his 38.caliber pistol, loaded with four rounds, and shot the intruder in the leg.  The suspect was arrested — but so was Wright. Because of prior weapons convictions, Wright was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, sparking calls by his family and neighbors for prosecutors to back down.”

Man Faces Charges After Defending Himself from a Bear in His Own Yard

“Richard Ahlstrand, of Auburn, Massachusetts, faces criminal charges after encountering a bear in his back yard and shooting the damned thing to avoid being mauled or eaten. Specifically, as noted at Reason 24/7, he’s charged with ‘illegally killing a bear, illegally baiting a bear, illegal possession of a firearm and failure to secure a firearm.’ All of these charges, once translated from Massachusetts to American, seem to stack up to outrage that Ahlstrand didn’t make his yard completely inhospitable to animals that are rarely seen in the area.”
