We have historical precedence for such a tactic. In 1786 and 1787, patriots sick of the State’s depredations and tyranny surrounded courthouses in Massachusetts to prevent courts from sitting since each time they did, more poor farmers lost their land to rich and corrupt rulers. That same tactic can work today.”

NYPD officers testify stop-and-frisk program motivated by quotas and race

“The New York police department’s controversial stop-and-frisk program is being driven by a high-pressure quota system imposed upon lower-ranking officers by their supervisors, two NYPD officers testified in court this week.  The claims were made as part of a landmark class action lawsuit that seeks to prove that the nation’s largest police department has demonstrated a widespread and systemic pattern of unconstitutional stops that disproportionately target minorities. The trial represents a historic challenge to the legacies of NYPD commissioner Ray Kelly and mayor Michael Bloomberg, who have both vocally supported stop-and-frisk.”

Police summoned, multiple schools locked down after man spotted carrying umbrella

“A typical Tuesday morning for 42-year-old Michael Di Marzo quickly became a citywide multi-jurisdictional manhunt for him and what witnesses thought was a assault rifle in his hand.  Three schools were locked down and delayed as police scoured the area by ground and air, looking for a man described by a teenage tipster as wearing black clothes and a ski mask. It wasn’t realized until hours later what was believed to be something along the lines of an AR-15 or AK-47 was more of a AU-15: a 15-inch compact ‘assault umbrella.’  The ‘ski mask’ was a pulled-up black turtle neck sweater paired with a black watch cap.”

Disarm Subjects and Make them Spy on Each Other: New York State’s Totalitarian Formula

“Benjamin M. Wassell of Silver Creek, New York, a wounded Iraq war veteran, is the first resident of that state to be arrested and face prosecution under its draconian new firearms law. He was arrested during an undercover operation by state police in which he sold an AR-15 rifle and six large-capacity clips on January 24.  Wassell has been charged with three felonies and a misdemeanor. If they have their way, New York police officials will be doing a brisk business in incarcerating innocent gun owners.  The State of New York has established an anonymous tip line encouraging people to report suspected ‘illegal gun owners’ for a $500 reward.”

340 Sheriffs Refuse To Enforce Unconstitutional Gun Control Laws

“Including Sheriff John Cooke of Weld County, Colorado, 340 sheriffs have publicly stated they will not enforce gun laws they believe are unconstitutional.  In response to the passage of two new gun control bills in Colorado last week, Sheriff John Cooke told the Greeley Tribune that he ‘won’t bother enforcing the laws.’  Cooke is part of a growing list of sheriffs that have vowed to uphold the Constitution against gun control measures.  At the time of this post, there are 15 sheriffs associations, 340 sheriffs, one police chief and one deputy sheriff who have stated they will not enforce any new gun laws.”

Man’s Home Raided After Son’s Facebook Picture Shows Gun

“After seeing a photo of an 11-year-old boy holding a rifle on Facebook (photo shown cropped at right), New Jersey police and Department of Children and Families officials raided the home of the boy’s father, Shawn Moore, a firearms instructor. Moore was not arrested or charged, but immediately sought the counsel of his lawyer.  Moore is a certified firearms instructor for the National Rifle Association, an NRA range safety officer, and a New Jersey hunter education instructor. He posted a photograph of his son wearing camouflage and holding his .22 rifle. The boy has a New Jersey hunting license and has passed the state’s hunter safety course.”

Child-Snatchers and Gun-Grabbers Unite

“The investigators were demanding access to the family’s gun safe to see if all of their firearms were registered. At one point the child ‘safety’ bureaucrats threatened to seize Moore’s children.  He demanded to see a search warrant, and when none was produced, he ordered the investigators to leave.  The visit apparently followed an anonymous tip prompted by a Facebook photo of Moore’s 11-year-old son Josh, who is holding a .22-caliber rifle he had received as a birthday present. The rifle’s cosmetic features make it resemble one of those dreaded ‘assault weapons’ that cause Diane Feinstein to twist her Gorgon features into a grimace of pious disapproval.”

Sell a gun to someone who smokes a joint, get 20 years in jail

“The bill would impose a 20-year prison term if you planned (‘conspired’) to purchase a firearm in order to give or raffle it to a person who, unbeknownst to you, is a ‘prohibited person.’  Who is a prohibited person?  Well, there are the 150,000 law-abiding veterans who are ‘prohibited persons’ –- for no other reason than that a psychiatrist appointed a fiduciary to oversee their financial affairs.  But probably the biggest category of ‘prohibited persons’ is persons who smoke marijuana.  Under 18 U.S.C. 922(d)(3) and (g)(3), you cannot possess a firearm in America if you are ‘an unlawful user of … any controlled substance…'”

The cops are a dangerous replacement for private gun ownership

“Even if the cops ‘respond within minutes,’ it’s too late. They responded within minutes at Sandy Hook. They responded within minutes in Aurora, Colorado. Ten minutes is too long. Two minutes is too long. If you are unarmed, two minutes after you are attacked by a violent criminal, you’re dead.  Do the math.  If the cops do arrive at your home or place where you are attacked before you’ve been killed, your problems might just be beginning. As Will Grigg reminds us, the first priority for police responding to a 911 call is ‘officer safety.’ More often than not, the officer attempts to secure his or her own safety at the expense of yours.”
