Travelers in the VIPR’s Nest

“The heavily armed, black-clad figures stalking bus and train stations in New Jersey weren’t deployed in response to a specific threat. Transit Police Chief Christopher Trucillo explained that the VIPR teams – local police units supervised by agents from the TSA – were part of an initiative called BUSSAFE, an outgrowth of RAILSAFE, which was launched a year ago.  The purpose of the program was ‘to increase uniform police visibility…. Just to step on a bus and have somebody visually look in the bus, and have the folks on the bus see a police presence, and to give a sense of security to folks who use the bus daily.'”

I Want The TSA To Take My Comment

http://freedomwat.ch/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/tsa_body_scan-244x3001.jpg

“The US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has illegally, and in violation of court order, denied all of us an opportunity to publicly comment prior to their adoption of x-ray and millimeter wave body scanners at airport checkpoints nationwide. The TSA doesn’t want to hear or respond to our concerns about the health, privacy or security implications of their decision to use body scanning technology in American airports. But consumer advocate We Won’t Fly does. And we will make sure your comments are delivered to TSA administrator John Pistole and the media.”

TSA: Criminality, Body Scanners Beyond Airports

“Abby breaks down the TSA Bureaucracy: criminality, ineptitude and their blatant violation of citizens’ rights. She goes over the government collusion with the industry, exposes body scanner flaws and asks: ‘why is the TSA expanding beyond airports nationwide?'”

A Note on the Goofy U.S. Government

http://freedomwat.ch/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/FBD35980-DB7E-835B-A6A7659D5F21F63B1.jpg

“In the U.S., they put grandmothers traveling on planes through near strip searches.  Yet, in Libya, where hostile operators exist, some of whom might be even more dangerous than U.S. grandmothers, the government leaves a U.S. embassy outpost lightly guarded, resulting in the death of Ambassador Stevens.  These people are nuts. They have agendas, but it has nothing to do with serious security.”

U.S. Embassy in Yemen stormed; new protests reported at other embassies

http://freedomwat.ch/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/yemen_358_913d.jpg

“Witnesses said hundreds of people stormed the embassy in Sanaa, Yemen’s capital, breaking through the outer security perimeter and setting fire to a building before being driven back by Yemeni security forces. Meanwhile, clashes continued for a third day outside the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, and smaller protests were reported in front of diplomatic offices in Iran and outside a mosque in Bangladesh.”

Department of Homeland Security’s untouchables: shielded by the badge

http://freedomwat.ch/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/8cf45b1a3c5a938476abd28a1d642ba61.jpg

“A woman from South Korea is enslaved by the owner of a bar in Queens, New York. The captor takes away the victim’s passport and forces her into prostitution. Terrified, the woman attempts to escape her grim predicament. The bar owner involves two goons to intimidate his prey into submission. The victim’s passport is found at the residence of Goon No. 1, who is identified as a Customs and Border Protection Officer (CBPO). Goon No. 2 is a Federal Air Marshal (FAM).  The same disturbing trend runs through the myriad of corruption cases involving the Department of Homeland Security’s employees.”

The Prisons we call “Airports”

“A woman who had passed through airport security in Houston was detained by the Transportation Security Administration and forbidden to board the plane as punishment for exhibiting a ‘bad attitude.’  The TSA, which apparently exists in order to provide gainful employment for deviants and petty criminals, recently began a policy of testing beverages for explosives. This includes bottled drinks and coffee purchased by airline customers inside secure areas of airports.”

Widely used fingerprint reader exposes Windows passwords in seconds

http://freedomwat.ch/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/protector-suite-640x4741.png

“Fingerprint-reading software preinstalled on laptops sold by Dell, Sony, and at least 14 other PC makers contains a serious weakness that makes it trivial for hackers with physical control of the machine to quickly recover account passwords, security researchers said.  The UPEK Protector Suite, which was acquired by Melbourne, Florida-based Authentec two years ago, is marketed as a secure means for logging into Windows computers using an owner’s unique fingerprint, rather than a user-memorized password. The easily cracked passwords are stored in the Windows registry even after the Protector Suite software has been deactivated.”

Just say no when the TSA asks you to ‘chat’

http://freedomwat.ch/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/11464715-large1.jpg

“I asked her why the federal government needed to know where I was going and what I would be doing. She explained that the questions were part of a new security ‘pilot program.’  I then told her I am an American citizen, traveling within my own country. That’s all the federal government needed to know, and I wasn’t going to share any more.  Not because I had anything to hide. It was because we live in a free country where innocent people are supposedly protected from unwarranted government intrusion and harassment.  At that point the agent yelled out, ‘We have another refusal.'”

The N.S.A.’s top-secret domestic spying program

http://freedomwat.ch/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/027.jpg

“In this Op-Doc, Mr. Binney explains how the program he created for foreign intelligence gathering was turned inward on this country. He resigned over this in 2001 and began speaking out publicly in the last year. He is among a group of N.S.A. whistle-blowers, including Thomas A. Drake, who have each risked everything — their freedom, livelihoods and personal relationships — to warn Americans about the dangers of N.S.A. domestic spying.”
