Ron Paul: The Internet Revolution is a Liberty Revolution

“Thanks to the Internet, it is easier than ever before for liberty activists to spread news and other information regarding the evils of government power and the benefits of freedom. For the first time in human history, supporters of liberty around the world can share information across borders quickly and cheaply. Without the filter of government censors, this information emboldens millions to question governments and promote liberty.  This is why liberty-minded Americans must do everything possible to oppose − and stop − government attempts to censor or limit the free flow of information online.”

Pirate Bay and Mega: Treating the State as Damage and Routing Around It

http://freedomwat.ch/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/372894_117719681572756_1881982148_q1.jpg

“Most recently, it’s come out that The Pirate Bay has moved to the cloud, thus rendering itself invulnerable to website takedowns. TPB has already taken considerable countermeasures against government raids, backing its site up on several servers and concealing the location of some of them.  Meanwhile Kim Dotcom of MegaUpload is rolling out Mega, a new service duplicated on a network of servers in countries all around the world, and therefore far less vulnerable to takedowns by any national government.”

Mass rally in Venice to call for independence from Italy

http://freedomwat.ch/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Venice_2338357b2.jpg

“Inspired by the nationalist aspirations of Scotland and Catalonia, pro-independence campaigners will hold a mass rally in the heart of the lagoon city on Saturday, calling for an urgent referendum to be held on the issue.  Indipendenza Veneta, a newly-founded pro-independence movement, says it expects several thousand people to turn up for the rally.  They will be ferried across the Grand Canal in gondolas to deliver a ‘declaration of independence’ to the headquarters of the Veneto regional government.  Activists want to carve out a new country in north-eastern Italy. The ‘Repubblica Veneta’ would encompass about five million people.”

Europe’s Richer Regions Want Out

http://freedomwat.ch/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/07erlanger-ch-thumbWide3.jpg

“Catalonia may be the catalyst for a renewed wave of separatism in the European Union, with Scotland and Flanders not far behind. The great paradox of the European Union, which is built on the concept of shared sovereignty, is that it lowers the stakes for regions to push for independence.  While a post-national European Union may be emerging out of the euro zone crisis, with a drive for more fiscal union and more centralized control over national budgets and banks, the crisis has accelerated calls for independence from member countries’ richer regions, angry at having to finance poorer neighbors.”

Controlled Demolition of Europe Continues

“These two trends – the determinedly ignorant invincibility of modern banking elites and the growing awareness of ground-down masses – are going to collide with increasing violence.  The controlled demolition of Europe continues apace. The idea is apparently to inflict so much chaos that people will simply bow to inevitable centralizations of power and authority. But in this Internet era, such elite strategies may not prove so successful as in the past.  This latter realization, if one accepts it, provides us with a view of Europe that is at once tragic and triumphant. Out of the ruins of Europe may arise something that is better … and freer.”

Euro Pacific Capital Global Investor Newsletter: October 2012

“Just a few short years ago, joining the Eurozone was the cherished hope of many of Europe’s poorest countries. Greece was so desperate to get in that it hired Goldman Sachs, which only helped to obscure further the extent of the Greek budget deficit. Now, several years into the European debt crisis, it’s not simply that some countries may want out (like Finland) but that potential new members no longer want in.”

North Korean shoots officers, defects to South Korea

http://freedomwat.ch/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/North-Korean-soldiers-via-AFP2.jpg

“A North Korean soldier defected to the South on Saturday through the heavily militarised border, saying he shot dead two superior officers in the process, the South Korean military said.  The Demilitarised Zone (DMZ) that divides the Korean peninsula between North and South was created after the 1950-1953 Korean War.  Four kilometres (2.5 miles) wide and 248 kilometres long, it is a depopulated no-man’s land of heavily-fortified fences, bristling with the landmines and listening posts of two nations that technically remain at war.”

“In 1946, the people of Athens, Tennessee, overthrew their local sheriff’s department.  Wyoming has passed a law stating that any federal agent who enforces any federal law on a Wyoming firearm is subject to a year in prison.  Throwing bricks at the police led to LGBT rights.  Four towns in Maine have declared they are sovereign nations.  And in certain situations, it is legal to kill a police officer.”
