Disturbing Trend of Police Wanting Drones for Routine Infractions

“After lulling the public into believing that using drones in the U.S. would be confined to border patrol or for counter-terrorism in the event of an imminent threat, we are beginning to see police calling for far wider implementation of drone surveillance. I’d like to remind readers that up until 2010 it was a conspiracy theory to suggest that drones would be used in the U.S. at all. Until, of course, it came out that there had been a domestic drone program in the works for years. Subsequently, it became understood that the ‘border’ actually extends 100 miles inland through an area that the ACLU dubbed the ‘Constitution-free Zone.’”

If you are familiar with the criteria that bar people from owning guns under federal law, you can probably surmise what the conjunction of these two facts means for patients who use cannabis as a medicine, which Hawaii allows them to do only if they register with the state. Some of them recently received a letter from Honolulu Police Chief Susan Ballard, instructing them to turn in their guns.”

“It will provide driver’s examinations via simulator, registration services, and feature advanced face-scanning technology developed by Tencent.  Citizens will use their face as an ID Card. While the report wasn’t specific, it seems to indicate that those using the services won’t have to sit at stations and sign up for accounts, or download apps to generate logins. Image recognition AI will have access to all the pertinent information needed — it all sounds very elegant and smooth.”

TSA Plans to Use Face Recognition to Track Americans Through Airports

“CBP wants to vastly expand its program to cover domestic flights as well. It wants to create a ‘biometric’ pathway that would use face recognition to track all travelers—including U.S. citizens—through airports from check-in, through security, into airport lounges, and onto flights. And it wants to partner with commercial airlines and airports to do just that.  Congress seems poised to provide both TSA and CBP with the statutory authority to support these plans.”
