Such proponents are in no sense ‘Nazis,’ any more than were the Weimar officials who promoted similar restrictions. And it would be a travesty to compare today’s situation to the horrors of Nazi Germany.  Still, as history teaches, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.”

The thirst for power and possessions knows no limits’, the pope’s document says.  Pope Francis asks for better politicians to heal the scars capitalism made on society.”

IRS to Protect Computer System Modernization From Budget Cuts [2011]

“The plan suffered expensive glitches a decade ago and so far has cost $3.7 billion. Contractors on the project include Computer Sciences Corp. (CSC), based in Falls Church, Virginia; New York-based Deloitte Consulting LLP; andLockheed Martin Corp. (LMT), based in Bethesda, Maryland, according to Bloomberg Government data. The heart of the modernization effort involves building a database, known internally as CADE2 and projected to cost at least $1.3 billion through 2024. So far, the IRS has spent about $172 million on what some in the Government Accountability Office and the tax agency call a crown-jewel database, with $66 million going to CSC.”

“Alan Greenspan, the former Federal Reserve chairman, has largely avoided public comment on the Fed’s efforts to stimulate the economy, but he has said enough to make it clear that he is not a fan.  It’s been a long time since anyone accurately predicted higher inflation. Instead, inflation has sagged to the lowest levels on record. But here’s why Mr. Greenspan is worried.  Each time the Fed buys a bond, it pays the bank that sells the bond by creating money and putting it into an account that the bank keeps at the Fed. Mr. Greenspan’s inflation prediction is based on his estimation of the consequences as that money flows out into the economy.”

When he suffered a flat tire last January, police officers who arrived on the scene accused him of being a terrorist, made derogatory remarks about his religion, forced him to circle his truck with his hands on his head while the vehicle was searched, and then arrested him for supposedly refusing to obey an officer.”
