Collectivists Posing As “Anarchists” Demand $3 Billion From Google

“A group of anti-capitalist protesters referring to themselves as ‘anarchists’ demonstrated outside the home of Digg founder and Google Ventures partner Kevin Rose on Sunday, and demanded that Google hand over $3 billion to fund the creation of ‘autonomous, anti-capitalist, and anti-racist communities throughout the Bay Area and Northern California.’ The protest was allegedly organized by a group called The Counterforce, and they call Rose a ‘meta-leech’ who is to blame for the rising cost of living in the Bay Area. Rose has invested heavily in several tech startups, and these startups have moved to the Bay Area to run their businesses.”

Prohibition 2.0: Marijuana Mimics Alcohol

“Before alcohol could be prohibited, the temperance society knew it had to address the tax issue. Alcohol tax generated 40% of the government’s budget and that was the ‘Drys’ biggest challenge — replace the alcohol revenue. The 16th amendment created the federal income tax in 1913 and that was the first step to changing the revenue stream for the government. So you can thank the tee totalers for the income tax we have today. Income taxes far surpassed the liquor taxes and so the road became clear to pass a prohibition against alcohol manufacture and sales. In 1919, the 18th Amendment or ‘Prohibition’ was passed.”
Those Who Know The Least About Bitcoin Want to Ban it the Most

“Ekins sat down Reason TV to discuss the portion of the results from the April Reason-Rupe poll focused on attitudes towards, and knowledge of, the cryptocurrency bitcoin. Only 19 percent of respondents had ‘a lot’ or ‘some’ knowledge of bitcoin, but that didn’t stop 47 percent of them from saying they wanted to ban it. However, the more someone claimed to know about bitcoin, the less likely he or she was likely to want to prohibit it, with 71 percent of respondents who claimed to know ‘a lot’ about bitcoin saying it should be allowed and, on the other side of the spectrum, only 27 percent of those who claimed to ‘know nothing’ about it wishing to allow it.”

UK financial official: Monetize state debt when deflation risks persist
“There is no need for central banks’ balance sheets to shrink. They could stay permanently larger; and, for some countries, permanently bigger central-bank balance sheets will help reduce public-debt burdens. Even when permanent monetization occurs — as it almost certainly will in Japan and possibly elsewhere — it may remain forever the policy that dare not speak its name. Such reticence may serve a useful purpose. But it must not blind central banks and governments to the full range of policy tools available to address today’s severe debt overhangs.”
Incredible confusions: Why ‘austerity’ if we can just print the money?

“Debt can either be repaid or be defaulted on. Destroying the purchasing power of money through inflation is one way to default on the debt. Simply not paying the debt is the other option. In both cases, savers, ‘thrifty pensioners’, and the customers of banks, insurance companies, and pension funds will suffer, and in the inflationary scenario everybody will suffer greatly. Sadly, the massive printing of money and accumulation of debt that has occurred since the termination of the gold standard and the adoption of limitless state fiat money and pro-growth central banking has now brought us to a point where defaults appear to be unavoidable. This is not some great reset. It is a man-made catastrophe.”
Gov. Christie Blames Regulators He Appointed for Tesla Sales Ban

“New Jersey’s eight-member Motor Vehicle Commission, made up of members of Christie’s cabinet and others appointed by the Republican governor, voted unanimously March 11 to block Tesla from direct sales. The Palo Alto, California-based automaker is battling car dealers state by state who want sales to go through them. Dealers in Ohio, New York, Minnesota, Georgia and elsewhere have argued that independent retailers are better for shoppers and vehicle owners. The New Jersey panel voted unanimously to require that all new vehicle sales go through franchised retail dealers. Christie said his administration had tried to work with the company.”
Ron Paul slams US on Crimea crisis: Russia sanctions ‘an act of war’

“The former Republican congressman and three-time presidential candidate Ron Paul has launched a scathing attack on what he calls a US-backed coup in Ukraine, insisting the Crimean people have the right to align their territory with Moscow and characterising sanctions against Russia as ‘an act of war’. He also said providing economic aid to Ukraine was comparable to giving support to rebels in Syria knowing it would end up in the hands of al-Qaida. The libertarian guru’s remarks in an interview with the Guardian are almost diametrically opposed to those of his son, the Republican presidential hopeful Rand Paul, who has called for stiff penalties against Russia.”

Health Czar Shows Amazing Ignorance About Marijuana

“In the Internet era, members of the general public have unprecedented access to scientific facts and figures. Among the resources now available at one’s fingertips is the National Center for Biotechnology Information database. NCBI is an NIH.gov electronic search engine that allows the public to instantly read the abstracts of hundreds of thousands of peer-reviewed scientific papers on virtually any subject, including an estimated 20,000 papers on cannabis alone. So why then does the head of the National Institutes of Health purport to know so little about the science of pot?”

Clueless Grandstanding Senator Calls For US To Ban Bitcoin

“I present Senator Joe Manchin, who (like plenty of Senators) does appear to get a fair bit of campaign money from financial services and banking institutions. He’s now calling for Bitcoin to be banned in the US with a letter to Treasury Secretary Jack Lew and Fed Chair Janet Yellen. But what’s incredible in his letter is how… simply wrong he is about nearly everything regarding the cryptocurrency.”
