Japan Follows Hawaii With Its Own False Missile Warning

“Japan’s public broadcaster sent out a false alert warning of a North Korean missile on Tuesday, just three days after Hawaii residents received an erroneous message about an incoming missile.  ‘North Korea appears to have launched a missile … The government urges people to take shelter inside buildings or underground,’ the message read, according to a translation from Reuters.  The false warning went out just before 7 p.m. in the evening, through broadcaster NHK’s Japanese mobile app and website.”

FBI director calls unbreakable encryption ‘urgent public safety issue’

Deporting 200,000 El Salvadorian Refugees Will Tear Families Apart

“The Trump Administration decided Monday to deport nearly 200,000 El Salvadoran refugees who fled gang violence and natural disasters.  El Salvadorans received TPS in in 2001 after a series of earthquakes left tens of thousands homeless. The program was signed into law by President George H.W. Bush in 1990.”

Pakistan ditches dollar for yuan in trade with China after Trump tweet

Trump boasts his ‘nuclear button’ is bigger, but he doesn’t really have one

“The process for launching a nuclear strike is secret and complex and involves the use of a nuclear ‘football,’ which is carried by a rotating group of military officers everywhere the president goes and is equipped with communication tools and a book with prepared war plans.  If the president were to order a strike, he would identify himself to military officials at the Pentagon with codes unique to him. Those codes are recorded on a card known as the ‘biscuit’ that is carried by the president at all times. He would then transmit the launch order to the Pentagon and Strategic Command.”
