So, the final Obamacare regulations published so far amount to approximately 10,516,000 words. The Department of Health and Human Services filed the majority of the regulations. But other federal agencies that have filed final Obamacare regulations include the Department of Labor, the Internal Revenue Service, the Office of Personnel Management, the Food and Drug Administration, the Department of Defense, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Social Security Administration, and Veterans Affairs.”

Rite Aid joins promotion effort for Obamacare

“Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius made the announcement Monday alongside Rite Aid CEO John Standley in New Jersey, where the feds will operate the health insurance exchange after Gov. Chris Christie rejected creating a state-run one. CVS Caremark in July announced plans to inform uninsured customers about the law. CVS pharmacies will host trained ‘navigators,’ who are funded by the health law to educate people about their coverage options. Walgreens also announced plans over the summer to team up with the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association to educate customers in its stores.”

Fla. officials under fire for impeding ObamaCare ‘navigators’

“The Obama administration is firing back at Florida health officials after they reportedly barred ObamaCare’s outreach workers from county health units, where the ‘navigators’ intended to help people sign up for health coverage.  A spokeswoman with Florida’s Department of Health defended the decision, saying that navigators are ‘not acting on behalf’ of the agency and do not deserve to operate on their properties.  ‘This program has raised privacy concerns due to the consumer information that will be gathered for use in a federal database,’ Ashley Carr said in a statement to Health News Florida.”

CDC calls rising E-cigarette among teens ‘deeply troubling’

“Some 1.78 million US middle and high school students — around 11 to 18 years old — smoked so-called e-cigarettes in 2012, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said in a new study.  CDC smoking and health office director Tim McAfee noted that ‘about 90 percent of all smokers begin smoking as teenagers.’  ‘We must keep our youth from experimenting or using any tobacco product.’  The US government is due to announce in October its plans for regulating electronic cigarettes. For the moment, the laws are different according to each state, though a number of them have already forbidden their sale to minors.”

The Department of Health for the city of Washington D.C., is proposing a new regulation requiring a 24-hour waiting period and other onerous requirements for the provision of tattoo services. Sixty-five pages of rules and regulations designed to stifle tattoo parlors would require that a tattoo artist cannot apply a tattoo or body piercing until at least 24 hours after a customer requests it.”

With Three Weeks to Go, Nobody Knows What ObamaCare Will Cost.

“I am an insurance agent for the nation’s largest multiple line insurance company. There are over 17,000 of us, all independent contractors with our own employees, who, like us, are not employed by the insurance company. On September 3rd, the company announced that it would terminate all Group Medical health insurance that our employees (who work for us, not the company) participate in, effective January 1st, 2014, citing the Affordable Care Act and its restrictive underwriting requirements.”

When It Comes To Healthcare, Paul Krugman Is Wrong 100% Of The Time

“In a recent New York Times column Krugman pronounced Obamacare a success before it has even been tried. Why? Because the premiums to be charged in California health insurance exchange are apparently lower than what the experts thought they would be. Aah… let’s see… Everybody thought health insurance premiums would be 100% higher. In fact, they are only 60% higher… Hooray… Break out the champagne! I’ll come back to these price comparisons in a minute. For the moment, I would ask: What kind of an economist would celebrate an expected price decline without asking what happened to quantity or quality? This is an Econ 101 mistake.”
