Blowback: How U.S. Drones, Coups, and Invasions Create More Violence

“U.S. and Western politicians avert their eyes from this data and this correlation; acts of terror are explained away as ‘random,’ ‘mindless,’ and, perhaps most disingenuously of all, ‘unprovoked.’ The public, either unfamiliar with secret operations carried out by the U.S. military or intelligence services, or uninformed about the brutal nature of the foreign wars fought in their name, tend to buy into this fantasy of an ‘innocent’ America hated and attacked by hordes of ‘mad’ Muslims.”

Tillerson Pledges Open-Ended Military Presence In Syria To Counter Iran

“Tillerson once again reiterated the US desire to eventually see President Bashar al Assad removed from power while also pledging US commitment to staying in Syria in order to counter Iran’s influence in the region.  Ultimately, according to Tillerson, ‘the United States will remain in Syria’ until certain conditions are met which include the complete destruction of ISIS, Assad’s removal from power, and the return of refugees to a stabilized country.”

President Trump’s ‘Friends’ in Saudi Arabia

“Trump and his unabashedly Iranophobic generals have allowed the United States to become a patsy for Saudi Arabia, actively abetting or tacitly endorsing MBS’s ambitions. Yet whatever the administration’s purported intent, throwing in with the Crown Prince will only exacerbate the disorder that previous U.S. administrations have done so much to create.”

Pat Buchanan: What Is America’s Mission Now?

“The [Iran] episode exposes a malady of American foreign policy. It lacks consistency, coherence and moral clarity, treats friends and adversaries by separate standards, and is reflexively interventionist.  Thus has America lost much of the near-universal admiration and respect she enjoyed at the close of the Cold War.  This hubristic generation has kicked it all away.”

Eric Margolis: Trump’s Failed Coup In Iran

“Listen to the state-‘guided’ US media this past week and you’d believe a series of spontaneous anti-government protests broke out across Iran.  The protests, according to President Donald Trump and his Israeli allies, were caused by `anger over Iran’s spending billions on wars in Syria, Iraq and Lebanon and helping the Palestinian movement Hamas.’ Trump tweeted that Iranians were finally rising up against what he called their hated, brutal regime.  Talk about manufactured news.”

Bitcoin Adoption Rate In Iran Surges Despite Censorship And Protests

“The government has blocked popular messaging services like Telegram and Signal, in addition to several internet networks. Yet despite censorship and civil unrest, the Iranian bitcoin community is growing rapidly.  Iranian customers protested outside local branches in 2017, demanding deposits because they worry some of the country’s largest credit institutions are on the verge of collapse. Meanwhile, Iranians remain politically ostracized from most international businesses and financial institutions.  Part of the inspiration behind the Iranian revolution in 1979 was a belief that the Shah’s regime perpetuated economic inequality.”

Ron Paul on Iran Protests…CIA Fingerprints?

“Is it just a coincidence that the biggest protests since 2009 have hit Iran shortly after a secret agreement was revealed between Washington, Tel Aviv, and Riyadh to destabilize Iran? And shortly after a new Executive Order was issued by President Trump allowing him to seize US assets of anyone he deems a ‘human rights abuser’ …or anyone who aids a designated ‘human rights abuser’?”

US-Backed Saudi Coalition Should Lift Its Yemen Blockade

“There are no heroes in the civil war between Houthi rebels, who have Iranian backing and were responsible for killing Saleh, and the Saudi-led coalition supporting Yemen’s government. Both sides have inflicted death and suffering on civilians. The Saudi coalition currently has a partial blockade on ports and airfields controlled by the Houthis.   Hostilities have already killed or wounded at least 14,000 people in nearly three years, and countless others have died from disease and starvation. Some 1 million people have contracted cholera in part because the lack of fuel has affected the ability to pump clean water.”

The U.S.-Saudi Starvation Blockade

“President Obama first approved U.S. support for the Saudi war effort. President Trump has continued the Obama policy. The war in Yemen has now become his war and his human rights catastrophe.  Yemen today is arguably the worst humanitarian crisis on earth, and America’s role in it is undeniable and indispensable.”
