“The Kansas City health department did not stop at simply forbidding the food from being served, they demanded that it be destroyed immediately. Those who had worked diligently to collect the food were forced to douse over 3,000 pounds of award-winning barbecue food with bleach, in order to ensure its destruction and appease the local health department. Meanwhile, 3,000 homeless individuals went without a meal that day.”

Canadians Panic As Food Prices Soar On Collapsing Currency

When the loonie slides, prices for those goods soar. ‘With lower-income households tending to spend a larger portion of income on food, this side effect of a soft currency brings them the most acute stress’ Bloomberg continues.  Of course with the layoffs piling up, you can expect more households to fall into the ‘lower-income’ category where they will have to fight to afford things like $3 cucumbers, $8 cauliflower, and $15 Frosted Flakes.  Some now fear that the hardest hit parts of the country may experience a spike in obesity rates as Canadians resort to cheap, unhealthy foods.”

Cops Raid Little Girls’ “Illegal” Lemonade Stand, Shut it Down

“Last week, police in Texas heroically saved the town from likes of two young girls who attempted to open a black market lemonade stand. The girls, one 7-year-old and one 8-year-old, dared to try to raise money to buy a Father’s day present for their dad by setting up a lemonade stand in their neighborhood.  Andria and Zoey Green told ABC affiliate KLTV they were trying to raise about $100 for a Father’s Day present. They wanted to take him to Splash Kingdom.  Over the weekend, the two young entrepreneurs took to the streets with their delicious batch of homemade lemonade and began to provide willing customers with their product.”

The story of a flying pizza is no exception to this rule. One day in the spring of 2014, a police department in Syktyvkar, a city in Northwestern Russia, got a call from a concerned person who reported that a few suspicious young men occupied a garage in his neighborhood. They were making a lot of noise and were bothering all the respectable citizens living in the area.  When policemen arrived at the location, they did find a few people in the garage, although the crime scene looked somewhat unusual.”

W.H.O. lists bacon alongside cigarettes, asbestos as carcinogens

“The WHO is set to list beef, bacon and sausage alongside cigarettes and asbestos as cancer causing agents, the Daily Mail reported this week.  The publication said the health body is expected to go further than most scientific studies, by saying processed meat actually causes cancer.  According to the report, the decision is due on Monday, and comes on the heels of a meeting of scientists from ten different countries that reviewed a broad array of data.”

Keurig Founder Loses $144M In Minutes As Shares Crash

“The fortune of Keruig Green Mountain’s founder Robert Stiller fell off a cliff along with the company’s stock on Wednesday, on the back of sinking earnings and plummeting sales. Stiller saw the value of his shares in the beleaguered company drop a stunning $143.9 million in minutes as afterhours traders sold the stock en masse.  Stiller, who hasn’t been a billionaire since May 15 when shares in Keurig Green Mountain fell below $100, saw the value of his stock drop 27% in afterhours trading, after investors were disappointed with the company’s earnings. Declining sales for their K-cup coffee pods and coffee machines, along with shrinking profits did the trick.”

Lucky Lobsters Jam China Flights, Sending U.S. Prices to Record

“Every Sunday for the past seven months, about 60,000 live North American lobsters packed in wet newspapers and Styrofoam coolers make the 18-hour flight to Asia in a Korean Air Lines Co. cargo plane.  The 7,500-mile (12,000-kilometer) trip from Halifax, Nova Scotia, to Shanghai via South Korea has become a weekly routine this year with a surge in demand from China, where lobsters caught in North Atlantic waters are at least one-third the cost of competing supplies. As a result, exports have skyrocketed from Canada and the U.S., the world’s top producers, and American prices are the highest ever.”

House Bill 253 created a second generation of nano breweries. This license costs an extra $240, but we can finally sell full pints! Governor Hassan signed the bill on July 24, 2013, effective that September. Since then, New Hampshire has seen an explosion of nano breweries, with more on the way.”
