“If the U.S. government has forced the American people to support useful dictators, why is it trying to overthrow Syria’s brutal president, Bashar al-Assad, whose enemies — Jabhat al-Nusra (al-Qaeda in Syria) and the Islamic State (the ambitious al-Qaeda offshoot) — are also self-proclaimed enemies of America?  Instead of discussion we get a parade of retired generals and CIA analysts, along with terrorism ‘experts,’ who insist that to defeat the Islamic State the U.S. government must end the Syrian civil war by ousting Assad. All this adds up to an American, Saudi, Turkish, and Israeli preference for violent Sunni jihadists.”

New Mexico Cities Refuse To Obey New Law To Shut Down Civil Forfeiture

“This business of civil forfeiture came to the public’s attention in late 2014, when an attorney charged with overseeing one city’s forfeiture programs described civil forfeiture as a ‘gold mine‘ and property seized through civil forfeiture as ‘little goodies.’  The resulting wave of public outrage brought landmark legislation, as the state legislature voted unanimously to abolish civil forfeiture. But cities across New Mexico are refusing to follow the law. In Albuquerque, police and prosecutors continue to use civil forfeiture and have even announced plans to purchase a new, bigger parking lot to hold all the cars they expect to seize—a parking lot that will be paid for through civil forfeiture.”

Florida “Officer of the Year” Arrested on Federal Child Pornography Charges

In addition, Officer Harding used his department issued laptop computer to upload child pornography. Harding is married with three young children.   Officer Harding was once a decorated police officer; he has even done public safety videos. In hindsight, public safety videos should have been done on how to stay away from predators like Harding.  In 2011, while working for the Fort Pierce Police Department, Harding was named Officer of the Year. At the time, Harding had issued 76 DUI citations – a key component to him winning Officer of the Year.”

After a year of brutal torture, it was finally determined that Arar was an innocent man. The Syrians released him and he’s now back living in Canada.  So, why the urge to initiate a regime-change operation against the U.S. government’s former partner in the war on terrorism?”

California pushes 350-foot no-fly drone law; government exempt

“The drone wars are heating up in California as legislators move to ban unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from flying within 350 feet above property ground level without the operators having received express permission.  Senate Bill 142 contains an exemption for lawful flights of government and law enforcement drones.  In other words, you can consider it a proposed ban on private and commercial UAV use – a dismal prospect for companies such as Amazon, with its plans to fill the sky with delivery drones; Google, with its own drone delivery service; and GoPro, the body-wearable camera maker that recently announced it was making its own drone.”

Cliven Bundy will be held accountable, Interior secretary says

“Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy will be held accountable for the federal land grazing fees and penalties he owes, a top federal official said.  Bundy became a national figure in April 2014 when he and scores of supporters got into an armed standoff with federal law enforcement officers over his cattle’s years of alleged unpaid grazing on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) property. Interior Secretary Sally Jewell, whose department includes the BLM, says Bundy will eventually have to answer for what he owes the federal government, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.  The BLM says he owes more than $1 million. But Bundy does not recognize the federal government’s authority to collect.”
