Was World War 2 a “good war?”

“Too many Americans assume that every conflict must have a good side and a bad side.  Not true. More often than not both sides are bad. That was certainly the case both in WW1 and with Chiang Kai-shek versus Japan.  Adults realize that some situations are unfixable. You just have to wait them out because any effort to intervene just makes matters worse. Sadly…  The closer you look, the worse the case against the U.S. war with Japan becomes. If you’re going to pick a fight with someone, as FDR did with Japan, and then sacrifice vast wealth and innocent young lives to that purpose, you had better make damned sure you leave things better than you found them. But the exact opposite happened in the case of the Pacific War.”

Pro-War Hillary Faces Backlash Over Female Draft

“Hillary Clinton’s support for a female draft is sparking outrage as she continues to fuel war tensions with Russia.  Clinton initially backed requiring women to register for the draft back in June, but the backlash really exploded as Clinton started taunting Russia after the last presidential debate.  The Twitter hashtag #DraftOurDaughters is trending, with memes mocking Hillary’s ‘total war’ policies which could easily ignite World War 3.”

Escalating US Air Strikes Kill Hundreds of Civilians in Mosul

antiwar_logo4

“U.S. air forces have been operating under looser rules of engagement in Iraq and Syria since last fall. The war commander, Lt. Gen. McFarland, now orders air strikes that are expected to kill up to 10 civilians without prior approval from US Central Command, and US officials acknowledge that air strikes are killing more civilians under the new rules.  US officials previously claimed that air strikes in Iraq and Syria had killed as few as 26 civilians. A senior Pentagon official who is briefed daily on the air war told USA Today that was unrealistic, since air strikes that have destroyed 6,000 buildings with over 40,000 bombs and missiles have inevitably killed much higher numbers of civilians.”

Iran to be hooked up to global banks in weeks; U.S. investors still banned

“A nuclear deal between world powers and Iran led to the removal of the curbs on Tehran’s banking, insurance and shipping sectors last weekend, as well as restrictions on oil exports.  But for Iran to resume business with the global banking world – for the first time since 2012 – its banks need to be linked to overseas lenders on SWIFT. The system is used to transmit payments and letters of credit. Many international sanctions relating to Iran’s nuclear program were lifted but most involving U.S. measures remain in place. Non-U.S. banks may trade with Iran without fear of punishment in the United States but U.S. banks may not do so, directly or indirectly.”

U.S. bailout places ‘Puerto Rico’s democracy at risk’

“The U.S. Senate is considering a bill called the Puerto Rico Assistance Act of 2015. It offers minor assistance: a temporary reduction in payroll taxes and a ‘development fund’ of $3 billion.  But the real purpose of this bill is the installation of a six-member Financial Control Authority. That authority, if it gets the chance, will rule over Puerto Rico. Completely. What this legislation contemplates is beyond extraordinary; it is essentially the destruction of whatever semblance of genuine democracy currently rules the island. According to the bill, five members will be appointed by the U.S. President. The sixth will be the Secretary of the U.S. Treasury, who will also serve as Chairman.”

Saudi Arabia’s Secret Holdings of U.S. Debt Are Suddenly a Big Deal

“That question — unanswered since the 1970s, under an unusual blackout by the U.S. Treasury Department — has come to the fore as Saudi Arabia is pressured by plunging oil prices and costly wars in the Middle East. As a matter of policy, the Treasury has never disclosed the holdings of Saudi Arabia, long a key ally in the volatile Middle East, and instead groups it with 14 other mostly OPEC nations including Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Nigeria. Apart from the kingdom itself, only a handful of Treasury officials, and those at the Federal Reserve who compile the data on their behalf, have a clear picture of Saudi Arabia’s U.S. debt holdings and whether they’re rising or falling.”

Ron Paul Says to Watch the Petrodollar

“From 1972 to 1974, the U.S. government made a series of agreements with Saudi Arabia. These agreements created the petrodollar system. The U.S. government chose Saudi Arabia because of its vast petroleum reserves, its dominant position in OPEC, and the (correct) perception that the Saudi royal family was corruptible. In essence, the petrodollar system was an agreement that the U.S. would guarantee the survival of the House of Saud. It’s hard to overstate how much the petrodollar system benefits the U.S. dollar. It’s allowed the U.S. government and many Americans to live beyond their means for decades.”

41% of Trump Voters, 19% of Democrats Want to Bomb ‘Aladdin’ Country

“41% of his voters think Japanese internment was a good thing, to 37% who don’t. And 41% of his supporters would favor bombing Agrabah to only 9% who are opposed to doing that. Agrabah is the country from Aladdin. Overall 30% of Republican primary voters say they support bombing it to 13% who are opposed. We asked the same question of Democrats, and 36% of them opposed bombing Agrabah to 19% in support.”

Jacob Hornberger: The Pentagon’s B-52 Message to North Koreans

hornberger1

“Given that the U.S. military had just a few years before dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, why would they have any compunctions about bombing North Koreans with napalm and fleas with bubonic plague? Don’t forget, after all, the mindset of the U.S. national-security state during the Cold War — the ‘war’ that was used to justify converting the federal government into a national-security state. The Cold War national-security state mindset was: A commie is a commie and a gook is gook; no big deal to send any and all of them to the hereafter.  The Korean civil war was no more the business of the U.S. national-security state than Vietnam’s civil war was.”

US drowning in blood of innocents as civilian casualties deemed acceptable

“Evidence for this comes on the back of the recent airstrike carried out by US jets over Mosul, targeting an ISIS facility allegedly containing a huge amount of cash intended to pay its fighters and finance future military operations. Imagine if a Russian military commander made a statement such as this, openly acknowledging that civilians would be killed in future Russian airstrikes. The uproar across Western media platforms would be off the scale. There would likely even be attempts to convene an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council in order to censure the Russian government, along with a concerted attempt to isolate Moscow and reduce it to pariah status.”
