Black Caucus slams Rand Paul for opposing AG nominee Lynch

“The Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) issued a sharp condemnation of Sen. Rand Paul’s (R-Ky.) opposition to Attorney General nominee Loretta Lynch on Thursday.  Paul said he opposed confirming Lynch because she supports civil forfeitures, a controversial law enforcement tactic, but the chairman of the CBC dismissed those concerns.  Under the laws, police departments and other law enforcement agencies can keep the proceeds of properties they seize during investigations — even when they never charge the owner with a crime.  He also cited Lynch’s support for President Obama’s executive action on immigration and what he called her ‘non-committal’ stance on the legality of drone use.”

Andrew Napolitano: Can the President Legally Kill Americans?

“President Obama has established a secret process that involves officials from the Departments of Justice and Defense, the CIA, and the White House senior staff whereby candidates are proposed for execution and the collective wisdom of the officials then recommends execution to the president.  If the recommendation is to kill and the president rejects it, the CIA is directed to arrest the person. If the president accepts the recommendation to kill, then death is ordered. The monstrous British King Henry VIII delegated the final say to his chancellor so that he could publicly disavow participation in the government murders.  Obama does not disavow them; he defends them.”

Obama wants China to stop copying the NSA’s surveillance plans

“President Obama has criticized a Chinese plan to force US tech companies to install backdoors into their products for sale in the country. Without stopping for a moment to consider the phrase about glass houses and stones, he told Reuters that China would have to change its stance if it wanted to do business with the US.  The move comes as part of China’s new anti-terrorism law, which would require firms to keep data about their users inside China, hand over encryption keys and delete terrorism-related content. Worse than that, it would force companies like Google, Microsoft and Apple to poke holes in their software so that local surveillance agencies could spy on their citizens.”

Police Chief: Secret Service Told Us To Fake A Warrant

“Nashville’s police chief is raising stunning new allegations regarding the U.S. Secret Service, saying local agents once asked his officers to fake a warrant.  Even more disturbing, Chief Steve Anderson said he complained to top Secret Service officials in Washington, and they did not seem to care. In the Nashville case, a Secret Service agent made a frantic call for backup to Nashville police after he and another agent went to the home of a Nashville man, investigating threatening comments on Facebook about the President. ‘One of the agents then asked a [police] sergeant to ‘wave a piece of paper’ in an apparent effort to dupe the resident into thinking that they indeed had a warrant.'”

Obama order urges companies to share cybersecurity information

“The order the president signed here encourages the development of central clearinghouses for companies and the government to share data and creation of centers where data can be shared across specific geographic regions. Obama pushed for collaboration between the public and private sectors.  ‘There’s only one way to defend America from these cyber threats, and that is through government and industry working together, sharing appropriate information as true partners,’ he said. Both privacy groups and Silicon Valley companies have said they would oppose the legislation Obama proposed last month unless reforms are first made to the NSA’s surveillance program.”

A President Who Didn’t Want the Job [2013]

“Perhaps no other man ever elected to the presidency wanted it less than our 20th. He said himself, ‘This honor comes to me unsought. I have never had the Presidential fever, not even for a day.'”

Congress Legalizes Warrantless Forfeiture of Private Communications

“Congress has quietly passed an Intelligence Authorization Bill that includes warrantless forfeiture of private communications to local law enforcement. Representative Justin Amash unsuccessfully attempted a late bid to oppose the bill, which passed 325-100. According to Amash, the bill ‘grants the executive branch virtually unlimited access to the communications of every American.’ According to the article, a provision in the bill allows ‘the acquisition, retention, and dissemination’ of Americans’ communications without a court order or subpoena. That type of collection is currently allowed under an executive order, but the new stamp of approval from Congress was troubling, Amash said.”

Obama sends 1,500 more US troops to Iraq, requests $5.6 billion for war

“President Obama has approved sending up to 1,500 additional U.S. troops to Iraq, doubling the number being deployed to help Iraqi forces fight the Islamic State.  The president also requested an additional $5.6 billion on Friday for the war against the Islamic State, in part to cover the additional deployments.  The decisions reflect a deepening U.S. involvement in the region, though the White House again stressed that U.S. personnel ‘will not be in combat,’ but rather training, advising and assisting Iraqi forces near Baghdad and Irbil.  The U.S. has been launching airstrikes on Islamic State group militants and facilities in Iraq and Syria for weeks.”

Obama’s New Ebola ‘Czar’ Has No Medical, Health Care Background

“President Barack Obama on Friday turned to a trusted adviser to lead the nation’s Ebola response as efforts to clamp down on any possible route of infection from three Texas cases expanded, reaching a cruise ship at sea and multiple airline flights.  Facing renewed criticism of his handling of the Ebola risk, Obama will make Ron Klain, a former chief of staff to Vice President Joe Biden, his point man on fighting Ebola at home and in West Africa. Klain will report to national security adviser Susan Rice and to homeland security adviser Lisa Monaco, the White House said.  Klain does not have a medical or a health care background.”

Robert Parry: Can MSM Handle the Contra-Cocaine Truth?

“The mainstream news media’s reaction to ‘Kill the Messenger’ has been tepid, perhaps not surprising given that the MSM comes across as the film’s most unsympathetic villain as it crushes journalist Gary Webb for digging up the Contra-cocaine scandal in the mid-1990s after the major newspapers thought they had buried it in the 1980s.  The drug lords show some humanity and even honesty as they describe how they smuggled drugs and shared the proceeds with the Nicaraguan Contra rebels, Reagan’s beloved ‘freedom fighters.’  By contrast, the news executives for the big newspapers come across as soulless careerists determined to maintain their cozy relations with the CIA’s press office.”
