UN Condemns America on Human Rights Violations

“How would you like to live in a country that tortures prisoners? That reads its residents’ mail and monitors their phone conversations? That executes its own citizens without trial? That murders innocent people in foreign countries on a regular basis? Whose government manipulates courts and other legal processes to ensure that criminals are never held to account, while whistle blowers are punished severely? If you’re an American, you already do. Many Americans tend to adopt an attitude of ‘if you’ve got nothing to hide, you’ve got nothing to worry about,’ as if our government’s rights violations are directed only at bad apples. Nothing could be further from the truth.”

After seven years, exactly one person gets off the gov’t no-fly list

“Ibrahim’s case, as just one of hundreds of thousands of individuals who have been placed on such lists, shows the system’s opacity. First, the only surefire way to even determine if one is on such a list in the US is to attempt to board a flight and be denied. Even after that happens, when a denied person inquires about his or her status, the likely response will be that the government ‘can neither confirm nor deny’ the placement on such lists. The government’s surrender in Ibrahim comes on the heels of a new report by the American Civil Liberties Union that shows just how insanely difficult it is to contest one’s status on the government blacklists.”
Aggressive Police Tactics Threaten Innocent Citizens

“The reason for the raid? Barbering without a license. And if you think that’s insane, consider that U.S. SWAT teams have repeated this sort of outrage while raiding a DJ’s studio to enforce copyright law, a private home in search of stolen koi fish, a meeting of Buddhist monks suspected of overstaying their visas, an Amish dairy farm for selling unpasteurized milk, a private poker game … and an animal shelter in search of a baby deer (which they then killed). Welcome to The Land of the Free, folks, where you are eight times more likely to be killed by a police officer than by a terrorist. It’s starting to look like there is only one sure solution to this madness.”

Notices Drafted For Connecticut Owners of Newly ‘Illegal’ Firearms

“A spokesperson with the Special Licensing and Firearms Unit of the Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection told TheBlaze that a letter has been drafted to send to gun owners who are found to be in possession of unregistered semi-automatic rifles deemed illegal by the state’s new gun control law. The spokesperson, who didn’t want to identify herself, refused to comment on the content of the draft letter. State officials did accept some gun registration applications that were submitted after the Jan. 4 deadline, however, not all late applications were accepted and are now on the state’s radar for owning guns that became illegal overnight.”
Supreme Court hands police more warrantless home search powers

“The US Supreme Court has ruled that police may search a home without obtaining a warrant despite the objection of one occupant if that occupant has been removed from the premises. With its 6 to 3 decision in Fernandez v. California on Tuesday, the Court sided with law enforcement’s ability to conduct warrantless searches after restricting police powers with its 2006 decision on a similar case. Prior to Randolph and Fernandez, the Court ruled in the 1974 case United States v. Matlock that any one of the co-tenants in a home can consent to a police search of the premises.”

Students Petition To Execute Gun Owners In Concentration Camps

“‘We just want to make sure we disarm the citizens. We can trust the government to be the only ones with guns.’ Dice said to students on campus in San Diego, while they unquestioningly signed the petition to ‘repeal the Second Amendment.’ ‘These peasants don’t need guns,’ Dice stated, adding ‘We want to put all registered gun owners in prison,’ prompting one student to replay ‘Yes, it’s too dangerous.’ for people to own guns. ‘It’s just a simple repeal of the Second Amendment and we’ll be terminating and executing all of the gun owners.’ Dice told another signatory who replied ‘OK, thank you.’ and walked off. Dice has persuaded Americans in his area to agree to repeal the entire Bill Of Rights.”
Scalia Blows the Whistle on US Internment Camps?
“Regardless of the imminence – or lack thereof – implied by Scalia, the implications of his remarks logically extend the trend that the ‘War on Terror’ has already begun. Hyper-security (Homeland Security, etc.) along with travel and financial restrictions and censorship could – almost inevitably – include the potential for increased draconian measures up to and including camps of various sorts. Also, we have a feeling – just a feeling – that Scalia is sounding a warning based on what’s being discussed at high levels around him. In other words, he is not just speculating but has decided to broach a subject of considerable speculation within the military, Intel agencies, etc.”

Henry Magee, John Quinn, and the “Right of Resistance”

“A richly documented and tightly argued amicus curiae brief filed on his behalf by the US Justice Foundation, Gun Owners Foundation, and several other public interest groups contends that the ruling by the appellate court in Texas ‘establishes a per se rule that, every time the police have a valid warrant, they can execute it without knocking, violating the Fourth Amendment at will,’ if they discover that a resident has a legally owned firearm. ‘If the police are now permitted to justify no-knock raids any time there is a firearm in the residence,’ observes the brief, ‘no American home is safe from a terrifying, middle of the night home invasion.'”
