Global elite to criminalize “unexplained wealth” in crackdown on e-cash

Bureaucrats drawing tax-free salaries from various global government organizations met in January and advised all countries to create the crime of “unexplained wealth”, to augment the existing global financial thoughtcrime of “money laundering”.  Additional actions against digital currency exchanges and wallet providers were urged, and the group stated that the existence of digital currency mixers “should not be tolerated”.

Andrew Bacevich: How We Got Here

“To focus on the man himself rather than on the circumstances that produced him is to miss the significance of what has occurred.  Note, for example, that his mandate is almost entirely negative.  It centers on rejection: of globalization, of counterproductive military meddling, and of the post-Cold War cultural project.  Yet neither Trump nor any of his surrogates has offered a coherent alternative to the triad of themes providing the through line for the last quarter-century of American history.”

Ban $100 bills to tackle crime: Ex-bank chief

“He argued that high-denomination notes in high-value currencies were little used other than for crime, with people in most parts of the world favoring cash for small payments and electronic alternatives like credit cards or Paypal for bigger ones. As such, Sands called for the elimination of the 500 euro note, £50 bill and 1,000 Swiss franc bill and the $100 note.  Depending on the country, tax evasion robs the public sector of anywhere between 6 percent and 70 percent of what authorities reckon they should collect, Sands added. He said that global financial crime flows amounted to $2 trillion per year, with corruption accounting for another $1 trillion.”

Switzerland withdraws longstanding application to join EU

“The upper house of the Swiss parliament on Wednesday voted to invalidate its 1992 application to join the European Union, backing an earlier decision by the lower house.  In the aftermath of the vote, Switzerland will give formal notice to the EU to consider its application withdrawn, the country’s foreign minister, Didier Burkhalter, was quoted as saying. Switzerland’s longstanding application to join the EU has not had a significant impact on the country’s politics for more than 20 years, as its accession negotiations have been suspended since 1992 in the wake of a referendum to join the European Economic Area, when the Swiss voted down the idea of closer ties with the EU.”

Brexit: David Cameron to quit after UK voters choose to leave EU

“Prime Minister David Cameron is to step down by October after the UK voted to leave the European Union.  The PM had urged the country to vote Remain but was defeated by 52% to 48% despite London, Scotland and Northern Ireland backing staying in.  UKIP leader Nigel Farage hailed it as the UK’s ‘independence day’, while Boris Johnson said the result would not mean ‘pulling up the drawbridge’.  Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said she was ‘absolutely determined’ to keep Scotland in the EU so a second Scottish independence referendum was now ‘highly likely’. The referendum turnout was 71.8% – with more than 30 million people voting – the highest turnout at a UK-wide vote since 1992.”

Justin Raimondo: The EU – A CIA Covert Operation

antiwar_logo4

“The basic idea was to counterpose a European identity against the ‘internationalist’ ideology of the Soviets and their increasingly powerful fifth columns in the West. The ‘European Movement,’ which was and still is the “grassroots” organization that relentlessly pushed for the creation of a European super-state, was financed to the tune of $1 million a year by the ‘American Committee for a United Europe‘ (ACUE), which was founded by Allen Dulles, who was at that point chairing a committee tasked with looking at how to organize the nascent CIA, and William ‘Wild Bill‘ Donovan, who had been head of the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), forerunner of the CIA.”

Introducing Europe’s Frightening New Tax Directive

“A few days ago, the European Commission released details of a tax directive that will create a pan-European tax system, complete with a brand new Tax ID number for all the good citizens of Europe.  The proposal also aims to increase taxes across the board if they feel that a member state (like Ireland) doesn’t charge enough tax.  According to the proposal, other European countries like Ireland and Estonia ‘distort competition by granting favourable tax arrangements.’ The directive goes on to demand more onerous reporting, attack anyone who takes legal steps to reduce what they owe, and even threaten businesses with exit taxes if they try to leave Europe.”

Revoke Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize

20131002_Cato1

“Obama now has the ignominious distinction of being continuously at war longer than any other American president in U.S. history.   Christof Heyns, the United Nations special rapporteur on extrajudicial killings, summary or arbitrary executions, told a conference in Geneva that President Obama’s drone strike program threatens 50 years of international law by encouraging other states to violate long-standing human rights standards.  After eight years of continuous warfare, the Nobel Committee should take another unprecedented action: It should revoke Obama’s peace prize and demand repayment of the prize money.”

EU army plans kept secret from voters

“Steps towards creating a European army are being kept secret from British voters until the day after next month’s referendum.  The plans, drawn up by the EU’s foreign policy chief, foresee the development of new European military and operational structures, including a headquarters. They are supported by Germany and other countries as the first step towards an EU army.  Similar proposals were vetoed by Britain in 2011, although there are concerns that a loophole could allow nine states to group together and bypass opponents.”

The End of Tax Havens?

“One of [the OECD’s] foremost successes has been the Isle of Jersey. By forcing tax equalisation on Jersey, Jersey has had to decide whether to increase taxation for offshore depositors, or decrease taxes for locals. It chose the latter and, as a result, has experienced a shortfall in the government kitty, resulting in layoffs for public service workers, cuts in funding for road repair, sewage services, education, etc. Jersey appears to be on the ropes as a result. In five or ten years’ time, will the only tax havens be in places like Delaware, where the government-sanctioned tax haven follows the ‘bad practices’ that the OECD has called ‘criminal’?”
