Who voted for the Reed Amendment in 1995 and 1996?

220px-GenIsaacBrock1

“The Reed Amendment — which bans people determined by the Attorney-General to have ‘renounced citizenship for the purpose of avoiding taxation’ — was an amendment to the Immigration in the National Interest Act of 1995.  I was aware in a general sense that Republicans had taken back the House and the Senate in 1994, but I’d never really put two and two together until reading this list: Republicans formed a majority among the supporters of the Reed Amendment. Indeed, every single one of the Republican freshmen on the committee who joined the House as a result of the 1994 ‘Revolution’ voted for Reed’s amendment.”

Former President Bush praises President Obama on counterterrorism and immigration reform

“‘I think the President got into the Oval Office and realized the dangers to the United States, and he’s acted in a way that he thinks is necessary to protect the country,’ Bush said.  ‘Protecting the country is the most important job of the presidency,’ Bush added, in response to a question about whether he felt surprised that Obama had kept many of the counterterrorism programs put in place during his own administration. Obama has come under criticism following the disclosure that the National Security Agency has continued to implement cellphone and Internet data surveillance programs created by Bush.”

Obama: No warrantless wiretaps if you elect me [2008]

“For one thing, under an Obama presidency, Americans will be able to leave behind the era of George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and ‘wiretaps without warrants,’ he said. (He was referring to the lingering legal fallout over reports that the National Security Agency scooped up Americans’ phone and Internet activities without court orders, ostensibly to monitor terrorist plots, in the years after the September 11 attacks.) In our own Technology Voters’ Guide, when asked whether he supports shielding telecommunications and Internet companies from lawsuits accusing them of illegal spying, Obama gave us a one-word response: ‘No.'”

Obama, Former Civil Rights Attorney, Shreds Constitution

C4SSLogo22

“The train of civil rights abridgments which picked up steam under Bush just keeps rollin’ with the Obama administration at the throttle. Just because you don’t think the state will persecute you today, remember that Japanese Internment wasn’t so long ago, or that according to Noam Chomsky ‘The most civilised part of the world, with the highest cultural standards 70 years ago was Germany. No more need be said.’ Just because the government appears less psychopathic or genocidal today does not mean it will be this way tomorrow.”

Obama Throwing Medical Marijuana Patients Into Federal Prison At Unprecedented Rate

“Fallout from the Obama Administration’s aggressive federal enforcement in medical marijuana states has reached a fever pitch this month with three people being sentenced, two others due to surrender to federal authorities to serve out sentences of up to five years in prison, and one federal trial in Montana currently scheduled for January 14th. Two of the three people being sentenced in the coming month face five and ten years to life, respectively.  Far surpassing his predecessor George W. Bush, President Obama has conducted more than 200 SWAT-style raids on state-compliant medical marijuana businesses and has indicted more than 80 people since he took office.”

When is a coup not a coup?

“Republicans also voiced strong support for Egypt’s military, whose close ties to Washington stretch back to the 1979 Israeli-Egypt peace accords. ‘The Egyptian military has long been a key partner of the United States and a stabilizing force in the region, and is perhaps the only trusted national institution in Egypt today,’ said U.S. Representative Eric Cantor, the No. 2 Republican in the House. ‘Democracy is about more than elections,’ he said.”

Susan Rice for National Security Advisor?

“She and her husband have a net worth estimated at between $23.5 and $43.5 million.  From October 1997 to January 2001, she was Bill Clinton’s Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs. She supported Washington’s imperial Afghan and Iraq wars.  She urged longterm occupation. She endorsed imperial war on Libya. She falsified claims about Gaddafi forces committing mass rapes. She ignored Western-enlisted death squad atrocities.  She’s been silent about them throughout Obama’s war on Syria. She blames Assad for Western imperial crimes. She asked for UN authorization to wage war. She favors partnering with Israel against Iran.”

CA Medical Marijuana Dispensary Numbers Shrink in Two-Pronged War of Attrition

“Anyone who is following the situation in the Golden State at all closely has seen a numbing litany of reports of dispensaries forced out of business, including from some of the most venerable, respected, and law-abiding operations in the state. What had been the occasional raid or prosecution by the DEA or federal prosecutors during the early years of the Obama administration has turned into a heightened onslaught since the issuance of the notorious Cole memo, written by Assistant Attorney General James Cole, two years ago next week and the announcement by California’s four US Attorneys that fall that they were declaring open season on dispensaries.”
